Adopt-a-Dog Month - October
Throughout the month of October, the American Humane Association joins with animal
shelters across the country in celebrating Adopt-a-Dog Month. People are encouraged to
help homeless animals by opening their hearts and homes to dogs in need. The Rancho
Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center can help you to find the perfect pet.
By adopting a dog from the Animal Center,
you are saving the lives of these precious
animals and giving them much needed,
loving homes.
Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month - November
Attention animal lovers! November is Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month and we would love for
you to consider giving a home to an older cat or dog in need. Be sure to check out our
website at RCPets.info as it is a source for all your pet needs.
Bark in the Ballpark August 10th & 24th
Back by popular demand, this event is a day where pet lovers can bring their
beloved four-legged friends out to LoanMart Field to take in an exciting Quakes
baseball game. Not only does the event allow pet lovers to bring their furry friends
out, it also benefits the RC Animal Care and Adoption Center. This partnership with
the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes increases awareness of the leadership and vision
that the Animal Center has for the community. For more information log onto the
Quakes’ website at RCQuakes.com. We hope to see you at the game!
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are a Minor League Baseball team. They are a Class A Advanced
team in the California League and a farm team of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
TNR - Trap, Neuter and Release
What is a feral cat? Feral cats are different from stray cats in that they are not, and cannot
be, socialized. They live on their own because they were born to a stray or feral mother cat.
Although a feral cat’s ancestors were once domesticated, true ferals cannot be domesticated
and prefer to live away from people. They are well-adapted to their colony environment, living
with a group of cats that have banded together to hunt and protect each other.
Feral cat overpopulation is a problem, but a problem that can be handled humanely and
effectively. TNR is the best chance feral cats have of living safe, healthy lives without reproducing.
The City of Rancho Cucamonga has a city-wide program to address feral or untamed cats. Residents
can become a TNR participant if they care for a feral colony of cats. Participants agree to provide
food and water for the colony. In exchange, every cat cared for can be trapped, sedated, examined
by a veterinarian and sterilized. Cats will be microchipped, given all immunizations, and be treated
for any minor injuries or infections. Contact us directly if you would like more information about this
service. To learn more about TNR, visit AlleyCat.org, a national feral cat resource.
