HomeMy WebLinkAbout289 - Ordinances ORDINANCE NO. 289 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 10.20.020 OF THE RANCh0 CUCAMONGA MUNICIPAL CODE R~ARDING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN CITY STREETS (i) California Vehicle Code Section 22358 provides that this City Council may, by ordinance, set prima facie speed limits upon any portion of any street not'a state highway. (ii) The. City Traffic Engineer bas conducted an engineering and traffic survey, of certain streets within the City of Rancho Cucamonga which streets are sp~fied in Part B of this Ordinance. (iii) The determinations concerning prima facie speed limits set forth in Part B, below, are based upon the engineering and traffic survey identified in Section A (ii), above. B. Ordinance N~W, THEREFORE, T~E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCItO CUCAMONGA DOES NERRI~Y ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Section 10.20.020 hereby is amended to the Rancho Cucamonga City Code to read, in words and figures, as follows: 10.20.020 Decr~as~ of s~a~ low maxi--,m SDa~d. Victoria Avenue--from Etiwanda Avenue to 40 Route 15 (Ord. 169 Section 1 (part), 1982: Ord. 39 Section 5.1, 1978). Rancho Cucamonga 5/82 124 (i) Both sixty-five (65) miles per hour and fifty-five (55) miles per hour are speeds which are more than are reasonable or safe; (ii) The miles per hour as stated are the prima facie speeds which are most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and are speed limits which are reasonable and safe on said streets or portions thereof; (iii) The miles per hour stated are hereby declared to be the prima facie speed limits on said streets; and (iv) The Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to install appropriate signs upon said streets giving notice of the prima facie speed limit declared herein. SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. SECTION 5: The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk shall cause the same to be published within fifteen (15) days after its passage at least once in The Daily Report, a neWspaper of general circulation published in the City of Ontario, California, and circulated in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
