HomeMy WebLinkAbout236 - Ordinances ORDINANCE NO. 236 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING THAT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA SHALL BE HELD ON THE SAME DAY AS THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION, NAMELY, THE FIRST TUESDAY AFTER THE FIRST MONDAY OF NOVEMBER IN EACH EVEN NUMBERED YEAR The City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1: This Ordinance is enacted under the authority of Government Code Section 36503.5(a). SECTION 2: The general municipal election of the City of Rancho Cucamonga -shall be held on the same day as the statewide general election, namely, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November in each even numbered year. SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall apply to general municipal elections held in 1986 and subsequent years, provided, however, that nothing in this Ordinance shall limit or otherwise effect the authority of the City Council to change the day of the general municipal election in the manner permitted by Government Code Section 36503.5 or any other relevant statute. SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall become operative upon the approval of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. SECTION 5: The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk shall cause the same to be published within fifteen (15) days after its passage at least once in The Daily Report, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Ontario, California, and circulated in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
