HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-B - Ordinances ORDINANCE NO. 70-B AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 70 CREATING AN HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION TO ACT IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY TO THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE IDENTIFICATION AND PRESERVATION OF HISTORICAL OBJECTS, EVENTS, STRUCTURES AND SITES AND TO IDENTIFY PERSONS OF HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE TO THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA. The City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1: Section 8 of Ordinance No. 70 is hereby amended as follows: Section 8: Designation of Landmarks. The Historic Preservation Commission, pursuant to the procedures set forth herein, may recommend to the City Council the designation of a "Landmark" or "Point of Historic Interest" for an individual structure or other feature, or group of structures on a single lot or site, or a site having special aesthetic, cultural, architectural, or engineering interest or value of an historical nature. (a) Each such designation shall include a description of the characteristics of the landmark or point of historic interest which justify the designation and consequent benefits to the public which will be derived from its preservation. There shall be a description of the particular features that should be preserved, and the legal description of the landmark site or point of historic interest. (b) The Historic Preservation Commission may at any time recommend to the City Council the amending or recinding of a Landmark or Point of Historic Interest designation pursuant to the same procedures set forth in this Ordinance for original designation. (c) Review and designation of "Point of Historic Interest" will follow the subsequently outlined procedures of this ordinance pertinent to Landmarks designation. (1) The "Point of Historical Interest" designation is merely recognition for historical purposes and is not subject to protective or restrictive pre.visions applicable to Landmarks designations as outlined in subsequent sectiops of this Ordinance. (2) A current register of approved "Points of Historical Interest" will be maintained for public use and information. SECTION 2: The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk shall attest to the same, and the City Clerk shall cause the same to be published within fifteen (15) days after its passage, at least once in The Daily Report, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Ontario, California, and circulated in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
