HomeMy WebLinkAbout13 - Ordinances ORDINANCE NO. 13 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A PLANNING COMMISSION AND PLANNING AGENCY AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT, REMOVAL AND TERMS OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS THEREOF. The City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1: There is hereby created and established in the City a Planning Commission. SECTION 2: The Planning Commission shall be the Planning Agency of the City. SECTION 3: The Planning Commission shall consist of five (5) members who shall be appointed by the Council. The Mayor shall submit to the Council the name of any person proposed for appointment to the Planning Commission, and upon such appointment by the Council, the name of the appointee shall be recorded in the minutes of the Council meeting. SECTION 4: Members of the Planning Commission shall receive no salary, provided, however, that nothing in this Ordinance shall preclude reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by a member of the Planning Commission in the performance of official duties for the City. SECTION 5: The five (5) members of the Planning Commission initially appointed shall determine the length of their terms by lot. Three (3) members shall serve a term of four (4) years and shall continue in office until their respective terms expire unless sooner removed as provided in this Ordinance, and their successors shall be appointed for terms of four (4) years. Two (2) members shall serve for a term of two (2) years and shall continue in office until their respective terms expire unless sooner removed as provided in this Ordinance, and their successors shall be appointed for terms of four (4) years. If a vancancy shall occur, other than by expiration of the term of office, it shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with the approval of the Council for the unexpired term. SECTION 6: Any member of the Planning Commission may be removed at any time by a majority vote of the entire Council. SECTION 7: The powers, functions and duties of the Planning Commission shall be as set forth in the Statutes of the State of California and applicable ordinances of the City. SECTION 8: Regular meetings of the Planning Commission shall be held at such time and place as is determined by resolution of the City Council.
