The existing trail extends from the trail system at Beryl Street, west to approximately 1,400 feet east of Carnelian Avenue (see attached vicinity map). This project will extend that trail the 1,400 feet to Carnelian Avenue. This will allow the Wilson Avenue trail to join with the Demens Channel trail. The project will also construct a small portion of the Carnelian Avenue trail to the south of Wilson Avenue, to Brilliant Lane, approximately 350 feet. The trail will be the full width of the parkway. A standard PVC fence will be at the curb to separate the road from the decomposed granite trail. Street trees will be added adjacent to the curb, and vine pockets will be installed adjacent to the existing wall. Staff will present exhibits at tonight's meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the undersigned at (909) 477-2740, extension 4076. The design concept has been presented to the Public Works Subcommittee. The subcommittee was in favor of the concept presented. Tonight's presentation to the Trails Committee is an update of the general presentation staff made to the committee a couple of months ago. Staff has received comments from Police and is incorporating them into the design. The HPOI will consist of an equestrian trailhead including lighted parking for trailers, a hitching post, an equestrian drinking fountain, and a decomposed granite trail leading up to the Pacific Electric Trail. A restroom, drinking fountain, and table will also be installed at the HPOI. The old road pavement will be preserved as well as a portion of the bridge now crossing Foothill Boulevard. The HPOI is still under design. As such, staff is working with the consultant on the most current exhibits for tonight's meeting. This exhibit will be presented at the meeting.
