That ’s Not Cool! Is it too hot to take my dog along today? We need to ask ourselves this question every time we drive with our pet. Warm weather can literally be a killer for a dog left inside a car. When it is 85 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car – even with the windows cracked – can soar to 102 degrees in 10 minutes and 120 degrees in just half an hour. Outside temperatures in the 70’s can be dangerous too. Leaving your dog for “just a minute” may be too long! The summer heat is at record highs, and in some places it is higher than 100 degrees. unlike other animals, rabbits cannot pant or sweat to cool themselves off in hot weather. Imagine being in hot weather with a fur coat on and not being able to cool yourself down. The best way to keep a rabbit cool is in your home with the air conditioning on. Even if you can’t keep your rabbit indoors all the time, consider setting up an indoor enclosure or putting your rabbit in your bathroom with a litter box, water and food and bring your rabbit in for the hotter part of the day. upcoming Events “Like” and follow us on www.facebook.com/rcanimalcenter Low Cost Vaccination & Microchip Clinic May 31st Bark in the Ballpark at Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter June 4th • J uly 2nd • August 13th • August 27th 7368 Archibald Avenue • (909) 477-2720 All library activities are free unless other wise noted. * Hours: Mon -- Thurs 10 am - 8 pm • Fri Noon - 6 pm • Sat 10 am - 5 pm • Sun 1 - 5 pm www.rcpl.lib.ca.us • Email: reference@cityofrc.com Archibald Library Please note: Archibald Library will be closed May 23rd, May 25th - 26th and July 4th.
