A. CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District was held on Wednesday,
October 4, 2000 in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, located at '10500 Civic Center Drive,
Rancho Cucamonga, California. The meeting was called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. by
President Alexander.
Present were Boardmembers: Paul Biane, James Curatalo, Bob Dutton, Diane Williams, and
President William J. Alexander.
Also present were: Jack Lam, City Manager; James Markman, City Attorney; Larry Temple,
Administrative Services Director; Joe Kamrani, St. Information Systems Analyst; Sam Davis,
Information Systems Specialist; Brad Buller, City Planner; Joe O'Neil, City Engineer; Bill Makshanoff,
Building Official; Dave Moore, Recreation Superintendent; Deborah C(ark, Library Director; Captain
Rodney Hoops, Police Department; Chief Dennis Michael, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection
District; Jenny Haruyama, Management Analyst I; James C. Frost, City Treasurer; and Debra J.
Adams, Secretary.
B. ANNOUNCEMENTS/PRESENTATIONS
B1. Presentation of a Proclamation proclaiming the week of October 8 - 14, 2000, as Fire Protection
Week.
President Alexander presented the Proclamation to Chief Dennis Michael.
Chief Michael invited everyone to the Banyan Station Open House on October 14 from 10:00 a.m.
until 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Fire Prevention Week.

No communication was made from the public.
D. CONSENT CALENDAR

MOTION: Moved by Williams, seconded by Dutton to approve the September 6, 2000 minutes.
Motion carried unanimously 5-0.

El. CONSIDERATION OF A RESOLUTION AND AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CONTRACT (CO
FD90-006) WITH THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO PROVIDE
SECTION 21362.2 (3% AT 50 FULL FORMULA) FOR SAFETY MEMBERS AND SECTION 21574,
FOURTH LEVEL OF 1959 SURVIVOR BENEFIT FOR BOTH SAFETY AND MISCELLANEOUS
MEMBERS

President Alexander opened the meeting for public hearing. There being no response, the public
hearing was closed.
RESOLUTION NO. FD 00-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE RANCHO
CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT ADOPTING A
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO
THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF
THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND
THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Curatalo to approve Resolution No. FD 00-015. Motion
carried unanimously 5-0.

AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE RANCHO
CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND THE BOARD OF
ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO PROVIDE SECTION 21574, FOURTH
LEVEL OF 1959 SURVIVORS BENEFIT FOR ALL SAFETY AND
MISCELLANEOUS MEMBERS AND SECTION 21362.2, 3% AT 50 FULL
FORMULA FOR SAFETY MEMBERS
MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Curatalo to waive full reading and set second reading of
Ordinance No. FD 34 for the November 1,2000 meeting. Motion carried unanimously 5-0.

MOTION: Moved by Dutton, seconded by Williams to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously 5-0. The
meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
