A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE FEDERAL
TRANSPORTATION EQUITY ACT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
(TEA-21)/CONGESTION MITIGATION AND AIR
QUALITY(CMAQ) IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FUNDING FOR
THE COORDINATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS ON BASE LINE
ROAD FROM BENSON AVENUE IN THE CITY OF UPLAND TO
ETIWANDA AVENUE IN THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA
PROJECT
WHEREAS, the united States Congress enacted the Transportation Equity Act
for the 215' Century (TEA-21) in 1997, which re-authorized funding for Congestion Mitigation and
Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG), being the
Regional Transportation Planning Agency having discretion over the allocation of funds has
initiated a call for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, SANBAG has established the procedures and criteria for reviewing
grant application proposals for use in determining eligibility and priority; and
WHEREAS, said procedures and criteria established by SANBAG require a
resolution certifying the approval of the grant application by the applicant's governing body
before submission of said application to SANBAG; and
WHEREAS, the application contains assurances that the applicant must comply
with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant if selected, will enter into an agreement with SANBAG
to complete the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA:
1. Approves the filing of an application for grant assistance from the
Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement program
for the development of new signal timing to coordinate 26 traffic
signals on Base Line Road from Benson Avenue in the City of Upland
to Etiwanda Avenue in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
2. Supports the Base Line Road Signal Timing and Coordination Project.
3. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this resolution.
