AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 61.024A (b) OF
THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA INTERIM ZONING ORDINANCE TO ALLOW
FOR SECOND DWELLING UNITS IN SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL
ZONES
The City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION I: Section 61.024A (b) of the Rancho Cucamonga Interim
Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended by adding subsection 61.024A (b)(8), to
read as follows:
(8) Second dwelling units: A second dwelling unit may
be constructed, or attached to, a primary residence
on a legal lot of record, containing an existing
single family detached residence, subject to the
following criteria:
(a) A Conditional Use Permit application shall be
required pursuant to Section 61.0219(o).
(b) The use of temporary/removable structures shall
be limited to the sole occupancy of one or two
adult persons who are 60 years of age or over,
related to the occupants of primary residence
by blood, marriage, or adoption. Further, said
structure shall be restricted to the area at
the rear of the primary residence and
adequately screened from public view from the
street.
(c) The unit is not for sale, but for rental
purposes only, or use by a member of the
immediate family.
(d) The unit does not exceed 640 square feet.
(e) The unit shall have a separate entrance from
the main residence.
(f) The unit shall provide parking and access
pursuant to Section 61.0219 (b).
(g) The unit construction shall conform to the
setback and coverage requirements applicable to
accessory buildings or additions to main
residence in the zone designation in which the
unit is located.
(h) The unit may require architectural review,
pursuant to Ordinance 89, as determined by the
City Planner.
(i) The applicant shall submit to the Building and
Safety Division written certification from the
affected water and sewer district that adequate
water and sewer facilities are or will be
available to serve the proposed unit. For
units using septic facilities allowable by the
Ordinance No. 204

Santa Ana Regional Quality Control Board and
the City, written certification of
acceptability including all supportive
information shall be submitted.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga,
California, hereby finds that this Amendment will not cause significant
adverse impacts on the environment and issues a Negative Declaration for this
Amendment.
SECTION 3: The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published within fifteen (15) days after its
passage at least once in The Daily Report, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Ontario, California, and circulated in the City of
Rancho Cucamonga, California.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 1st day of June, 1983.
