A.PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS
This is the time and place for the general public to address the Library Board of
Trustees on any item listed on the agenda. State law prohibits the Library Board of
Trustees from addressing any issue not previously included on the Agenda. The
Board may receive testimony and set the matter for a subsequent meeting.
Comments are to be limited to five minutes per individual or less, as deemed
necessary by the Chair, depending upon the number of individual Members of the
audience. This is a professional business meeting and courtesy and decorum are
expected. Please refrain from any debate between audience and speaker, making
loud noises or engaging in any activity which might be disruptive to the decorum
of the meeting.
B.CONSENT CALENDAR
The following Consent Calendar items are expected to be routine and non-
controversial. They will be acted upon by the Library Board of Trustees at one time
without discussion. Any item may be removed by a Member or member of the
audience for discussion.

discuss at the next meeting. These items will not be discussed at this meeting, only
identified for the next meeting.

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the
Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga,
California. President Christine DeVries called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Present were Members Murrieta-Morales and Temkin.
Also present were: Wess Garcia, Acting Library Director, Angelica Trummell, Head of Children’s
and Family Services Supervisor, Christina Olmeda-Lowry, Adult and Teen Librarian, Victoria Ortiz,
Children’s and Family Services Librarian, L Akinyi, Museum Services Librarian, Jamie Wyman,
Collection Development Librarian and Jennifer Palacios, Executive Assistant II.

B1. Consideration of Meeting Minutes for the Regular Meeting of March 2, 2023.
MOTION: Moved by Member Temkin, seconded by Member Murrieta-Morales, to approve
Consent Calendar Item B1. 3-0-2 (with Board Member Miller and Wells absent).
C1. Verbal Report—General Library Update. Presented by Wess Garcia, Acting Library Director.
Acting Library Director Garcia presented an oral Library Services update report and
introduced Victoria Ortiz, Children’s and Family Services Librarian, L Akinyi, Museum
Services Librarian, Jamie Wyman, Collection Development Librarian.
C2. Verbal Report – Children’s Services, Adult Services and Library Programming. Presented
by Angelica Trummell, Head of Children’s and Family Services Supervisor.
Angelica Trummell, Head of Children’s and Family Services Supervisor presented an oral
report about upcoming Library Service Programs.
C3. Verbal Report – Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Presented by Christina Olmeda-Lowry, Adult
and Teen Services Librarian and Teen Advisory Group Member’s.
Adult and Teen Services Librarian Olmeda-Lowry and Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Members
presented an oral report and PowerPoint presentation (copy on file).

Board Member Temkin stated she enjoyed attending the Children Storytime with her family
and thanked Head of Children’s and Family Services Supervisor, Trummell and Children’s
Staff for all the work it took to bring Storytime’s back.

BACKGROUND:
Library use metrics are kept regularly to provide data on the measurable activities of both
physical and virtual Library Services.
ANALYSIS:
Attached is a metrics report for January–March 2023. The report includes metrics reflecting the
number of visitors, number of checkouts, number of patrons registered by location, and number
of passport applications processed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
