IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA
Few people realize that although the Quakes go back to the start of the 1993 season
here in Rancho Cucamonga, the franchise traces its roots back to 1966 in Lodi,California,
and made two successive stops in Ventura and San Bernardino before landing in ;
Rancho Cucamonga.
Over 60 Quakes alumni have made it to the Major Leagues.Mike Trout helped lead the
Quakes to the California League Finals in 2010.Then in 2014,the Quakes welcomed the
Dodgers'number one prospect,Corey Seager who was later named the League's MVP. - -
Julio Urias was also on the team in 2014 and was selected to play in the Futures game
that year.In 2015,Cody Bellinger was named Most Valuable Player of the Championship `
Series after leading the league in RBIs and helping clinch the championship title.
Through 1984,the franchise had five different affiliations:Chicago Cubs(1966-68), '-
Oakland A's(1969),San Diego Padres(1970-71),Baltimore Orioles(1972-75),Los Angeles
Dodgers(1976-83),and the Cubs again in 1984.In 2011,the Quakes began a new
partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers, ending a 10-year run as the California League
Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
In 1992,fans were asked to select a name for the new Rancho Cucamonga —
team and on September 30,it was announced that six people had suggested
the name"Quakes,"which was chosen by the teams'management as the
winner from over 200 different choices.A fitting name it was indeed,as the
ballpark sits adjacent to several earthquake fault lines.
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes'first game took place at The Epicenter on April 8,1993,
which resulted in a 7-3 victory over the High Desert Mavericks. The Quakes enjoyed v
their best season in franchise history in 2018,as they finished with the most wins(87)
in a season,the most wins in a half(52),a franchise-best 15-game winning streak,and `
a whopping 202 home runs,also a franchise record.
This year, the Quakes are excited to celebrate their 30th anniversary ,
with the RCcommUNITY! We hope to see you back at LoanMart Fiel
for what is certain to be a celebratory season.Go Quakes!

zThe City of Rancho Cucamonga is currently developing an Urban Forest
Management Plan (UFMP)to improve the health and sustainability of the trees and
green spaces within the community. The City plans to develop a robust UFMP,to
address issues such as invasive species, disease, and climate change to create a
healthier urban forest.
As part of the plan development process and to gain a better understanding of
the current state of the urban forest, the urban forest health will be evaluated and
species, conditions, and distribution of trees will be documented. The City will also
conduct a canopy analysis, which will assess the distribution, health, and condition
of tree canopy cover within the community. This information will be used to identify
areas where additional tree planting and preservation efforts are needed.

and protecting existing trees. I F,
In addition to the goals of increasing tree canopy coverage, promoting biodiversity,
and providing educational opportunities for community members, the final,
adopted UFMP will also incorporate urban forest management best practices, and
greenhouse gas(GHG)emission reduction goals established in the City's Climate
Action Plan, and wildfire prevention. This includes measures to increase carbon
sequestration, reduce urban heat island effect, and improve air and water quality. ,.
Z The UFMP will serve as a comprehensive strategic plan for the City's urban forest
management over the next 50 years and will be regularly reviewed and updated
to ensure that it remains effective in achieving the City's goals over time. It will
guide the City's efforts in managing urban forest and ensure they align with the
City's vision and priorities. r
Rancho Cucamonga's UFMP Team is excited to partner with community 1
stakeholders later this summer at outreach events, including the Urban Forest
Summit at Central Park.At the Urban Forest Summit, community members will
have the opportunity to learn more about the UFMP and provide input on its
development and implementation.
The City encourages all residents who are interested in the health
of the urban forest to provide feedback, and participate so public
values and opinions may be incorporated into the final plan to
help maintain the urban forest. e. . tv.

Rancho Cucamonga is committed to improving the health and

FOOD , WASTE 101
The Rancho Cucamonga's Food Waste Recycling
Program launched in September 2022 to support
California Senate Bill 1383 which focuses on reducing
and properly recycling food waste to diminish
harmful greenhouse gas emissions such as methane.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions like methane can
help improve air quality and lessen the impacts on
health conditions such as asthma. After food waste is
collected by Burrtec, it's used to make nutrient-rich
/T compost.
All residents of Rancho Cucamonga are required to

scraps(i.e.fruits,vegetables,food-soiled paper,
leftovers, etc.) in a bag and placing the secured food

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Did you know that nearly 30% of the 482 cities in California contract with their County
Sheriff for police services rather than having a traditional municipal police department?
Since the City's incorporation in 1977,
police services have been provided
through a contract with the San
Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The City's superior safety reputation is
a direct result of not only the hard work
and dedication of the Deputies that serve
and protect, but also its access to a wide
range of services, extensive support,
and resources through the Sheriff's
Department.Additionally,the positive
interaction and participation by the

City leaders are committed to maintaining a safe community. The City's economic
growth has created the ability to commit substantial resources to enhance the quality
of life for all. Residents enjoy a wide variety of recreational offerings, parks, amenities,
trails, and some of the finest upscale retail shopping in the Inland Empire. Students are
among the top performers in San Bernardino County and the crime rate is among the
lowest in California.
The individuals that represent the RCPD have demonstrated a commitment to providing
outstanding service to the City and have developed a great deal of pride and a sense
`N of partnership with the City of Rancho Cucamonga. The City, in turn, has shown its
dedication and support, by continually evaluating personnel levels and resources to
offer the best services possible. It is by no accident that this strong relationship exists
z as a result of many years of dedicated service and collaboration to understand and

The safety of our RCcommUNITY remains a top priority,
