A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CU~, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING HISTORIC LANEMARK
DESIGNATION 93-05, ~HEREBY DESIGNATING THE JOHN KLUSMAN
HOUSE, I3DCAT~D AT 8841 FOC~T.I. BOULEVARD, AS A HISTORIC
IANDMARK AND MAKING FINDINGS IN SUPPORT THEREOF - APN:
207-211-13
~{EREAS, Gilbert Rodriguez, Jr. ba~ filed an application for
Landmark Designation 93-05, as described in the title of this Resolution.
Hereinafter in this Resolution, the subject Landmark Designation is referred
toast he "application."
WHEREAS, On April 13, 1993, the Historic Preservation C~tu~ssion of
the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a duly noticed public hearing on the
application and, following the conclusion of said public hearing, adopted
R~solution No. 93-04, thereby reccmm~_nding to this City Council that said
application be approved.
WHEREAS, on May 5, 1993, the City Council of the City of Rancho
Cucamonga conducted a meeting on the application and concluded said meeting on
that date.
WHERFAS, all legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this
R~solutionhaveoccurred.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga
does hereby find, determine, and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1: The application applies to property located at Assessor
Parcel Number: 207-211-13; Legal Description: Legal Description: Sub of Lot
10 Cucamonga Vineyard TRPTN Lot 17 beg at a pt on W LI Vineyard Avenuewhich
is 450 ft N of S LI SD Lot 17 th W parallel with S LI SD Lot 568 ft th N
parallel with ELI SDLOt to S LI Foothill Boulevard th E alg SD S LI Foothill
Boulevard to its intersection with W LI Vineyard Avenue th S ALG SD W LI to
POB EX St and EX additional St per deed recorded May 12, 1981 $103853.
SECTION 2: The 'Lmpressive architectural statement of the house
built for John Klusman and his family has stood as a significant element to
the Route 66 Foothill Boulevard streetscape since 1928 and stands as a
reminder of the many forms of agriculture and entrepreneurship that influenced
the early development of the area.
The proposed landmark meets the following criteria established in
Chapter 2.24.090 of the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code:
A. Historical and Cultural Significance:
The proposed Landmark is particularly representative of a
historical period, type, style, region, or w~y of life.

The proposed landmark is an example of a type of building
which was once co, Lupin but is now rare.

The proposed Landmark is of greater age than most of its
kind.
The proposed landmark was connected with someone renowned,
important, or a local personality.
5. The architect or builder was important.
The site is the location of an important historic event or
building.
B. Historic Architectural and Engineering Significance.
The construction materials or engineering methods used in
the proposed landmark are unusual or significant or
uniquely effective.

The overall effect of the design of the proposed landmark
is beautiful, or its details and materials are beautiful
or unusual.
C. Neighborhood and Geographic Setting:
The proposed landmark materially benefits the historic
character of the neighborhood.
The proposed landmark, in its location, represents an
established and familiar visual feature of the
neighborhood, c~Lu~nity and City (Ord. 70 S9, 1979).
SECTION 3: Designation of a landmark is exempt frc~ CtgQA (Article
19, Section 15308).
SECTION 4: Based on the substantial evidence received and reviewed
by this Council and basedonthe findings set forth above,
BE IT ~ RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho
Cucamongaapproves the designation of the the John KlusmanHouseas a Historic
Landmark and that the City Clerk shall forward a certified copy of this
resolution to the CountyRecorder within 90 days of its passage.
