A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
RANCHO CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT,
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE
EFFORTS OF THE WEST END COMMUNICATIONS
AUTHORITY TO SECURE FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THE
RADIO INTEROPERABILITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District is a member of the West End
Communications Authority (WECA); and,
WHEREAS, WECA was formed in 1992 to provide wireless communications for the cities of
Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland; and
WHEREAS, public safety response in situations encompassing more than one cit requires a
highly reliable communications system that allows interoperability among
different agencies and wide-area radio coverages; and,
WHEREAS, improvements to the current WECA communications system are necessary to
enhance the effectiveness and coverage of the existing system and to provide
interoperability, capabilities within the region; and,
WHEREAS, WECA is requesting federal funding for system improvements and expansion
which will enhance the effectiveness and coverage of the existing system and to
provide interoperability with other regions throughout Southern California; and,
WHEREAS, all of the jurisdictions within WECA have expressed strong support of the WECA
Radio Interoperability Improvement Project and have agreed to make this project
a priority for 2005 federal funding requests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Rancho Cucamonga
Fire Protection District that the Board hereby expresses its support of the efforts
of the West End Communications Authority to secure federal funding for the
Radio Interoperability Improvement Project.
