HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-135 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 90-135 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING HISTORIC LANDMARK NO. 90-01 THEREBY DESIGNATING THE STEGMEIER HOUSE AND BARN, LOCATED AT 7050 ETIWANDA AVENUE, RANCHO CUCAMONGA, AS AN HISTORIC LANDMARK WHEREAS, the City Council has held a duly advertised public hearing to consider all comments on the proposed Landmark Designation and issued Resolution No. approving the said as a Landmark. WHEREAS, the City Council has received and reviewed all input regarding said Landmark Designation. WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites to the adoption of this Resolution have occurred. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby specifically find, determine, and resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The application applies to property located at Assessor Parcel Number 227-101-13. SECTION 2: The proposed landmark is significant, historically and architecturally. The house and barn were built in approximately 1908 by the owner, Jacob Stegmeier; a key player in the development of Etiwanda. The Stegmeier House's Queen Ann style architecture is one of the last remaining old Etiwanda farm houses, as well as, retaining an original barn. Its stature plays an important role in todays concept of Etiwanda. The proposed landmark meets the following criteria established in Chapter 2.24.090 of the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code: A. Historical and Cultural Significance. 1. The proposed landmark is particularly representative of an historical style, the Queen Ann style. 2. The proposed landmark is an example of a type of building which was once common but is now rare, namely, Queen Ann Farm House with a barn accessory structure. 3. The proposed landmark is connected with a business and use which was once common but is now rare. B. Neighborhood and Geographic Setting 1. The proposed landmark, in its location, represents an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood, community and City (Ord. 70 S9, 1979). SECTION 3: Designation of a landmark is exempt from CEQA (Article 19, Section 15308). Resolution No. 90-135 Page 2 SECTION 4: Based on the substantial evidence received and reviewed by this Council and based on the findings set for above. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby approve designation of the Stegmeier House and Barn as a landmark.
