COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC This is the time and place for the general public to address the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library Board of Trustees. State law prohibits the Board from addressing any issue not previously included on the agenda. D. ADJOURNMENT OF THE LIBRARy BOARD I, Vivian Garcia, Library Administrative Secretary of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, hereby certify that a true, accurate copy of the foregoing agenda was posted on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, twenty-four (24) hours prior to the meeting per Government Code 54953 at 7368 Archibald Avenue. SERVICE PRIORITIES AND SERVICE ROLES FOR THE ARCHIBALD LIBRARY Please help us as we plan our priorities for access to services provided by the Archibald Library in the year ahead. The importance assigned to the following access issues will influence the way we approach critical budget issues brought on by the State budget crisis. Based on your priorities for library service, please assign each of the five access issues a rank of 1 through 5 using each rank only once, with 1 being most important and 5 being least important. Library Survey, Part I Books and Materials Access Everything from current non fiction, updated travel materials, current business information, recent medical information, diet trends, and best sellers, current magazines and newspapers. Information Access Provides timely, accurate, and extended levels of information for community residents on a wide variety of topics and help in finding information. Open Access Encourages all members of the public to access library services by providing extensive open hours during the maximum days of the week. Service Access Provides timely service, from answering questions on how to find and use materials, to providing staffing to minimize checkout lines. Technological Access Provides a large array of library services via computer, allowing the public to access the library's online services day or night, regardless of regular open hours. Library Survey, Part II Based on your own priorities, please assign each of the six possible library roles a rank of 1 through 6, using each rank only once, with 1 being most important and 6 being least important. Information Library Provides timely, accurate, and useful basic level information for community residents on a wide variety of topics and help in finding information. Independent Learning/Literacy Supports individuals of all ages pursuing a sustained program of self- improvement and independent learning through software, collections and volunteer tutoring. Outreach Provides bookmobile service to schools to supplement school libraries and reach children unable to visit the public library. Delivers materials to homebound residents. Popular Materials Library Videos, audio books, DVD's, CD's best sellers, and magazines. Technology Center/Gateway to Digital Resources Everything from word processing, resume creation, email, and Interact training classes. Youth Library/Curriculum Support Encourages children to develop an interest in reading and learning through programs and collections for children from pre-readers through high school students and their families. Materials collection supports curriculum needs from grades K-12.
