Elevation 1401.31 SPECIAL NOTE FROM PRIVATE ENGINEER TO CONTRACTOR IN D E X M A PContractor agrees that he shall assume sole and complete responsibility for job site conditions during the course of construction of the Project, scale: I"-= 100'including safety of all persons and property; that this requirement shall apply continuously and not be limited to normal working hours, and that the contractor shall defend, indemnify and hold the Owner and the Engineer harmless from any and all liability, real or alleged, in connection with the performance of work on the Project, excepting for liability, arising from sole negligence of the Owner or the Engineer. GENERAL NOTES 1. All wirk shall be done in accordance with these plans, the City of Rancho Cucamonga Standards and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Const- ruction - current edition. Contractor shall be familiar with and shall be responsible for adherence to these Standards and Specifications.. . 2. All pipelines or substructures of any kind. -telephone or power poles, water meters, valves, fire hydrants, etc. shown or not shown on these plans within the right-of-way limits or in adjacent areas where improvement work is to be done shall be removed, relocated or protected in place as required at no cost to the CiLv of Rancho Cucamonga. 3. The responsibility of adjusting manhole or valve covers, paving repair and paving replacement in connection with sewer and water,as, phone, electric or other utility line installations will be the responsibility of the owner, and shall be accomplished in compliance with appurtenant Ordinances and Standards. 4. Any contractor performing work on this project shall familiarize himself with the site and shall be solely responsible for any damage to existing facili- ties resulting directly or indirectly from his operations, whether or not such facilities are shown on these plans. 6. Shading on street plans indicate A.C. pavement, determined by structural section, to be installed. 6. A permit shall be obtained from the City of Rancho Cucamonga Engineering` Department prior to any encroachment or construction with City of Rancho Cucamonga ea;ement or right-of-way. 7. All required stakes shall be set by the private Engineer. 8. All curb and gutter, where grade is less than 0.40% shall be staked with 3' offsets at 12.5' intervals. Place 3/44 dowel pins ;at all expansion joints. 9. The structural sections shown are minimum. At the completion of rough grading, soils test, including °R° values, shall be taken and a material report shall -be prepared by a qualified soils engineer. The report shall contain a.pro- posed structural section and shall be submitted to the City Engineer for his review and evaluation. Approval will be given when all structural section requirements have been met. 10. Sub -grade stakes, driven to the pavement sub -grade elevation, shall be set by the Contractor or Engineer. The stakes shall be set at all hinge points, edge of pavement points within 0.01 foot of sub -grade elevation and at not more than 50 foot intervals. Additional stakes may be needed at warped or vertical curve areas, sub -grade stakes shall be in place prior to paving,,to permit spot checking of sub -grade by inspection personnel. 11. All sewer, water, electric, gas, phone or other utility laterals, mains, or crossings shall be constructer prior to paving. 12. Compaction tests of embankment construction, trench backfill, compacting original ground and all sub -grades shall be performed at no cost to the City` of Rancho Cucamonga. A written report, with these compaction tests shall be submitted to the City Engineer, for approval prior to the placement of base materials and/or surfacing. 13. At the completion of paving, a materials report shall be submitted to the City Engineer. Listing all tests or determinations completed to verify:. (a) R -Value. sieve analysis and sand equivalent of aggregate base. (b) Stability, oil content and sieve analysis of asphalt surfacing. 14. When asphalt concrete is placed on native soil which consists of a rocky material. The sub -grade shall be prepared by removing all rocks which protrude above the sub -grade and all voids or depressions shall be filled with a fine grade material of a quality better than the native material. 15. If the asphalt concrete is to be placed on sub -grade. A soils sterilant registered by the E.P.A. for us under A.C. and P.C.C. shall be uniformly applied at the manufacturer'r recommended rate for the full pavement width prior to paving. 16. Estimateof quantities is provided by the Engineer only for the convenience of the developer, the contractor shall make his own determination of const- ruction quantities before submitting a bid. Any item or work required by these plans which is not specifically listed in the estimate of quantjtiei shall be considered as included in the other items or work. 17. Contractor shall notify San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water.District, Mr. Bob Stallings at (213) 969-2716. Forty-eight (48) hours befgre commencing construction in Base Line Road. 18. City approval does not include water or sewer system and estimate of quantities. 19. Street markers per City of Rancho Cucamonga Standard Numbers 401 and 402 shall be constructed at each intersection. 20. City approval of plans does not relieve the developer from responsibility for the correction of error and omission discovered during construction. Upon request, the required plan revisions shall be promptly submitted to the City Engineer for approval. 21. Work site andiexterior street shall be in a neat, clean, hazard free, orderly. state, throughout construction. Site shall be cleaned upon request of the Inspector.
