A. CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District was held on Wednesday, June 17,
1998, in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, Jocated at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho
Cucamonga, California. The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by President William J. Alexander.
Present were Boardmembers: Paul Biane, James Curatalo, Diane Williams and President William J.
Alexander.
Also present were: Jack Lam, City Manager; James Markman, City Attorney; Jerry Futwood, Deputy City
Manager; Linda Daniels, RDA Director; Rick Gomez, Community Development Director; Brad Buller, City
Planner; Nancy Fong, Senior Planner; Shintu Bose, Deputy City Engineer; Dave Blevins, Public Works
Maintenance Manager; Dale Catron, Facilities Supervisor; Bill Makshanoff, Building Official; Larry Temple,
Administrative Services Director; Tamara Layne, Finance Officer; Paula Pachon, Management Analyst II,
E)iane O'Neal, Assistant to the City Manager; Chief Dennis Michael, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection
E)istrict; Captain Rodney Hoops, Rancho Cucamonga Police Department; and Debra J. Adams, Secretary.
B. ANNOUNCEMENTS/PRESENTATIONS
B1. Presentation to the Board of Directors from the California Association of Information Officials
(CAPIO) for an award of excellence in communication for the Paramedic Patient Follow-up Program.
Chief Dennis Michael presented the award to the E~oardmembers.
B2. Presentation of a Proclamation of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Board recognizing Robert G.
Howard, Jr., for his actions which assisted in the rescue of David Villagomez from the Day Creek
Flood Control Channel.
President Alexander presented the proclamafion to Bob Howard.

D. CONSENT CALENDAR
D1. Approval to receive and file current Investment Schedule as of May 31, 1998.
D2. Approval of General Fund 01 Monthly Expenditure Report for May, 1998, in the amount of
$582,416.74.
D3. Approval of Mello-Roos CFD 85~01 Fund 02 Monthly Expenditure Report for May, 1998, in the
amount of $191,814.58.
MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Williams to approve the staff recommendations in the staff reports
contained in the Consent Calendar. Motion carried, 4-0..

E 1. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF FIRST READING OF AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
LEVY OF A SPECIAL TAX IN MELLQ-ROOS COMMUNITY FACILITIES DISTRICT NO. 85-1 FOR
FISCAL YEAR 1998/99

CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF A SPECIAL TAX IN MELLO-ROOS
COMMUNITY FACILITIES DISTRICT NO. 85-1 FOR FISCAL YEAR 1998/99
MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Curatalo to waive full reading and approve Ordinance No. FD 30.
Motion carried unanimously, 4-0.

G. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Moved by Williams, seconded by Biane to recess to the conclusion of the City Council meeting
for an executive session to discuss Labor Negotiations per Government Code Section 54957.6 to give Larry
Temple, Administrative Services Director, direction in regards to the Meet and Confer Process. Executive
session to adjourn to Thursday, June 18, '1998, 5:30 p.m. for a budget workshop to be held at 10500 Civic
Center Drive in the Tri Communities Room. Motion carried unanimously, 4-0. The meeting recessed at 7:17
