CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA
UPPER CUCAMONGA STORM DRAIN AND
1 All work shall conform to the City of Rancho Cucamonga Standard Drawings and the
Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, (Green Book), 2003 Edition with
supplements.
2. Public and private utilities and substructures shown hereon are from available records.
The contractor shall be responsible for protecting all utilities and substructures as
shown within the construction limits of this project and shall be responsible for any
damage as a result of the construction operations.

The contractor shall notify Underground Service Alert 1-800-422-4133 and the following
utilities two working days prior to construction or regarding any problems.

For inspection of this project, the Contractor shall Contact the Public Works Section
at 477-2740 Ext. 4077 two working days prior to the required date.
5. A permit shall be obtained from the City of Rancho Cucamonga, prior to any
construction or encroachment within any City of Rancho Cucamonga right-of-way.
STREET WIDENING IMPROVEMENTS
6. The contractor shall notify the City of Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, The City
of Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and any affected school district, 72 hours prior
to construction indicating any detour and/or road closures.
7. Contractor shall have a "Class A" Contractor Licence.
EXISTING SURVEY MONUMENTATION
All existing survey monuments that will be disturbed by this project shall be referenced and
reset by the City Construction Surveyor in accordance with Section 8771 of the California
Surveyors Act. Found monuments are shown on the plans and described as follows:

STRIPING GENERAL NOTES
1. All details and dimensions for traffic striping and markings and the installation thereof shall conform
to Caltrans, Standard Specifications, Traffic Manual, Maintenance Manual and Standard Plans and City
Standard plan no. 133, unless otherwise approved or directed by the City Engineer.
2. Procedures for painting of striping and pavement markings and installation of pavements markers shall
conform to the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction and the following provisions.
A. All pavement markings shall conform to the city maintenance stencils, (S.A.E) unless otherwise noted.
B. All conflicting traffic striping and pavement markings shall be removed by WET SANDBLASTING.
C. Sufficient control points and spotting removed during sandblasting shall be replaced prior to installation
of striping and markings.
D. All control points and spotting removed during sandblasting shall be replaced prior to installation of
striping and markings.
E. All control points and spotting shall be inspected and approved by the City Traffic Engineer prior to
installation of new or replacement striping and markings.
F. All striping and pavement markings installed on new road surfaces shall be approved low VOC type,
15 mil thick (wet). Installation shall be in two coats with the second a minimum of two weeks after the
first, unless otherwise noted.
g. All thermoplastic striping and pavement markings shall be installed in one coat and be 10 mil thick (dry),
unless otherwise noted.
H. Under no conditions shall a roadway be left over night, weekends or holidays without appropriate striping
and markings to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
I. All traffic striping and pavement markings shall be installed with all appropriate permits and traffic control
measures, in accordance with the city and state standards.
J. Temporary or construction striping and markings shall be in accordance with the city and state standards
and as directed by the City Engineer.
STORM DRAIN GENERAL NOTES
1. All pipelines or substructures of any kind, telephone or power poles, water meters, waives,
fire hydrants, etcetera, shown or not shown on these plans within the right-of-way limits
or in adjacent areas where improvement work is to be done, shall be removed, relocated, or
protected in place as required at no extra cost to the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
2. Any Contractor performing work on this project shall familiarize himself with the site and
shall be solely responsible for any damage to existing facilities resulting directly or
indirectly for his operations, whether or not such facilities are shown on these plans.
3. The Contractor shall reconstruct, replace or repair existing structures, pavement,
curb and gutter , utility lines and other appurtenances affected by the installation
of the storm drain system.

4. Traffic control and safety shall be maintained by the Contractor in accordance with the
standard of the State of California Business Transfortation and Housing Agency, Department
of Transportation ( Caltrans "State of California Manual of Traffic Controls for Construction
and "Maintenance Work Zone (S.A.F.T.) 1990 Editon, the special provision. Traffic control and
safety devices shall be placed and maintained to the satisfaction of the Engineer. No such
devices shall be removed or relocated without approval of the Engineer.
5. Contractor shall locate existing loop detectors and restore in place after installation of the
proposed storm drain.
6. Prior to performing any excavation of the project the Contractor shall submit shoring drawings
to the City Engineer for approval, if such shoring does not conform to the State of California
Construction Safety Orders dealing with excavations and trenches as issued by the Division of
Industrial safety then shoring calculations and drawings shall be prepared by a California
Registered Civil Engineer.
7. Design of the R.C.P. shown on the contract drawings is based on the assumption the pipe will
be installed in accordance with the pipe bedding detail as shown on City of Rancho Cucamonga
Std. Dwg. No. 341. If the trench width exceeds the outside diameter of the conduit plus 20 inches
the bedding shall be modified and/or pipe of additional strength shall be provided. The proposed
modification shall be approved by the City Engineer.
8. Trench backfill shall conform to the City of Rancho Cucamonga Std. Dwg. No.120 and shall be
verified by compaction tests to the satisfaction of the Engineer or his representative.
9. Compaction tests of embankment construction, trench backfill, compacting original ground
and all sub -grades shall be performed by an independent testing firm and the City will bear the
cost of said testing. The costs of all other tests, including the retesting of those that fail the
first test, shall be borne by the contractor. A written report with these compaction tests will be
submitted to the City Engineer.
10. Paving replacement along the trench shall be per City Standard plan no. 120. If aggregate base
exist, the contractor shall replace aggregate base to match existing and all cost shall be included
in the bid item per linear foot for reinforced concrete pipe.
11. Estimate of quantities is provided by the Engineer solely for the convenience of the
Contractor. The Contractor shall make his own determination of construction quantities
before submitting a bid. Any item of work required by these plans which is not specifically
listed in the estimate of quantities shall be considered as included in the other items of work.
12. Locations of catch basins connection pipe junctions with catch basins shown on the drawings
are schematic. It is intended that such junctions be located at the downstream end of the
catch basin unless a detail of the connection is shown or a note specifically indicates
otherwise, in all cases the exact locations will be determined in the fields by the Engineer
to meet field conditions.
13. Sanitary sewers and house connections crossing over the storm drain trench shall be
supported in accordance with the City of Rancho Cucamonga Std. Dwg. no.339 and encased per
general note No.5 on said Std. Dwg. House connections shall be prepared per City of Rancho
Cucamonga Standard Drawing No. 339, case 3.
14. When indicated on the drawings sanitary sewers and lateral connections shall be encased or
blanketed in accordance with City of Rancho Cucamonga Standard Drawing No. 340.
15. Locations shown on the contract drawings for existing sanitary sewer house connections are
approximate only. The Contractor shall field locate laterals.
16. City approval of these plans does not relieve the Contractor from responsibility for the
correction of error and omission discovered during construction, upon request the required
plan revisions shall be promptly submitted to the City Engineer for approval.
17. Work site and exterior streets shall be kept in a neat, clean, and hazard free, orderly
state throughout construction site shall be cleaned upon request of the inspector.
18. The final surface layer of asphaltic concrete roadway pavement shall not be placed until all
utilities and utility laterals within the roadway have been installed and all unacceptable parkway
and roadway improvements are removed and replaced to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
