RANC~O CUCAMONGA CITY CODE ~ING PRIMA FACIE SPRFn
A. Recitals
(i) California Vehicle Code Section 22357 Provides that this City
Council may, by ordinance, set prima facie speed limits upon any portion of
any street not a state highway.
(ii) Tne City Traffic Engineer has conducted an engineering and
traffic survey, of certain streets within the City of Rancb~ Cucamorga which
streets as specified in Part B of this Ordinance.
(iii) The determinations concerning prima facie speed limits set
forth in Part B, below, are based upon the ergineering and traffic survey
identified in Section A (ii), above.
B. Ordinance
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCMO ~ DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1
Section 10.20,020 hereby is amended to the Rancho Cucamonga City Code
to read, in words and figures, as follows:
10.20,020 Decrease of state law mawrmum_ s~___. It is detarrtined by
City Council resolution and upon the basis of an engineering and traffic
investigation that the spccd permitted by state law is greater than is
reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and
it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as set forth in this
section on those streets or parts of streets designated in this section when
signs are erected giving notice hereof:

(i) Both sixty-five (65) miles per hour and fifty-five (55) miles
per hour are speeds which are more than are reasonable or safe; and

(ii) The miles per hour as stated are the prima facie speeds which
are most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and are
speed limits which are reasorable and safe on said streets or portions
(iii) The miles per hour stated are hereby declared to be the prima
facie spccd limits on said streets; and
(iv) The Traffic EngbBer is hereby authorized and dire to
install appropriate signs upon said streets giving notice of the prima facie
speed limit declared herein.
Section 2
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and
shall cause the same to be published as required by law.
Section 3
The Mayor shall sign this ~ and the City Clerk shall cause
the same to be published within fifteen (15) days after its passage at least
once in The Inland Daily Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Ontario, California, and circulated in the City of
SEL'TION : The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published with/n fifteen (15) days after its
passage at least once in the Inland Valley Dai]y Bulletin, a newspaper of
general circulation published in the City of Ontario, California, and
circulated in the City of Pancho Cucamonga, California.
