CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMON
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
MEMORANDUM
DATE: Hatch 27, 1987
TO: Redevelopmwt Ayrtecv Board Hembera
FBCM: Lauren H. Wasserman, Ew- 7utive Director
SUP.,IECf t FOP F - Tr ISffNCE
RECOWMATIOY: It 13 recamseded that the Ex aive Mrector of tdw A.ede-
ve.Lop Wt Agency be authorized yt meet wiggh tie appropriate County offi-
cialn cif UVI jallis mooed t fa different locutlen within off-aite of
Rancho Cdcamongs.
BACLCAOOID: SUpervihw Nikels has contected the City to determine ulether
r uve optent funds may be avalla".le to help pay for unanticipute' offaite
improvements if the County relcciiW3 the fail !rcm the Civic Center area.
In our conversation, we indicated that this idea appears to have contide•a-
ble merit. Wdever, it will be neounsary to seek RDA. Boardis conawrr,ce to
ezploro this option further. tot• that reason, va.will be placing this on
the April 1, 1987 RDA agenda for your consideration.
there are a number of Questions which mmat be answered prior to making a
comsiteent. Our staff and legal camSal will be answering the follwing
questions:
1. Does the current RDA adopted plait allow for this type of expenditure?
c. Does our proposed plan ament5xrt allow expenditures for this type of
offN,te improwaenc?
3. Aro there funds available for this work if the project is "eligible "?
It is 31Kniflcant to note that there is call other potential problem. T11e
relocation site taut generally be within the project area to qualify for RW.
assistance. If the project Is wtsido the RDA bc=daries, we amt be able
to prove that the RDA pt•opaties benefited from the in ,a•oveaents. If toe
relocation, site is wez of Ettwanda Lvenue and east of the I -15 freeway, it
will be eligible for consideration.
The relocation of the fail is obviously beneficial to both the City and to
our County Slepervisor. We will explore all optl,ms prior to the April 1,
1987 meeting.
