WHEREAS, the Rancho Or~ F/re Protection District is in a state
of financial crisis; and
~]~EAS, the Rancho O~amcex3a Fire Protection District has taken
actions locally to meet the financial challenges by freezing salaries for the
past two years and utilizing volunteers; and
~MEREAS, any efforts by the state to reduce funds historically relied
on by special districts would be devastating to our fire services and would be
detrimental to the residents of our City and to the econumic and ~usiness
climate of our oat~unity; and
WHEREAS, if current proposals to eliminate augmentation fur~_-~ are
adopted, the Rancho O~amc~ga Fire Protection District stands to lose over
$1,000,000.00 which is approximately 17 percent of the entire Fire District
budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors of the Rancho O,camorr3a Fire
Protection District does hereby resolve to call on the Legislature of the
State of California to reject any ~posal to furthe~ reduce funding to cities
and special districts.
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors asks the
Legislature to kee~ the property tax allocation formulas outlined by AB 8
intact so that the District may continue providing essential public safety
services to the people of our ccemunity.
