A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
FOOTHILL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, COUNTY OF
SAN BERNARDINO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING
PROPOSITION 61 .
WHEREAS, it is a continuing goal of the Board of Directors
of the Foothill Fire Protection District to provide an efficient,
well trained and fairly compensated work force to its citizens ;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors recently demonstrated
their commitment to this goal through good faith negotiations with
its employees ; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 61, the so-called "fair-pay" initia-
tive is in direct conflict with this goal; and
WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 61 would be detrimental
to the District ' s ability to provide life safety programs to its
citizens ; and
WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 61 would be detrimental
to other public agencies throughout the State of California; and
WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 61 would also severely
limit the District ' s ability to contract for quality professional
services, such as legal counsel and other consulting firms critical
to the District ' s operation; and
WHEREAS, the wording of Proposition 61 is so ambiguous
it will surely cost this District and other public agencies thousands
of dollars in legal fees ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors
of the Foothill Fire Protection District opposes the passage of
Proposition 61 .
APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 14th DAY OF AUGUST, 1986 .
