A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, DENYING AN APPEAL OF THE
CITY PLANNER'S DECISION TO DENY SIGN PERMIT NO. 90-45 ,
LOCATED AT 9041 PITTSBURGH AVENUE IN THE GENERAL
INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT OF THE INDUSTRIAL SPECIFIC PLAN
(SUBAREA 10) , AND MAKING FINDINGS IN SUPPORT THEREOF -

A. Recitals .
(i ) The Signs and Services Company has filed an appeal of the
denial of Sign Permit No. 90-45 as described in the title of this
Resolution. Hereinafter in this Resolution, the subject appeal request is
referred to as "the application."
( ii ) On April 26, 1990, the City Planner denied Sign Permit
No. 90-45 due to its inconsistency with the Design Guidelines of the
industrial area, the Sign Ordinance, and recent Planning Commission direction.
( iii) On the 23rd day of May, 1990, the Planning Commission of
the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a meeting on the application and
concluded said meeting on that date.
( iv) All legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this
Resolution have occurred .
B. Resolution.
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby found, determined and resolved by the
Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Cucamonga as follows :
1 . This Commission hereby specifically finds that all of the facts
set forth in the Recitals, Part A, of this Resolution are true and correct.
2 . Based upon substantial evidence presented to this Commission
during the above-referenced meeting on February 14 , 1990, including written
and oral staff reports, this Commission hereby specifically finds as follows :
(a) The application applies to property located at
9041 Pittsburgh Avenue with a street frontage of 722 feet and lot depth of
410 feet and is presently improved with a manufacturing facility; and
(b) The property to the north of the subject site is used for
distribution, the property to the south of that site consists of a
manufacturing plant, the property to the east is used for distribution and the
property to the west is used for distribution.

(c) The application contemplates construction of an internally
illuminated aluminum can monument sign, approximately 3 feet by 8 feet, with a
white plexiglas face and blue vinyl copy.
(d) The subject property and surrounding properties consist of
tilt-up concrete industrial buildings.
3. Based upon the substantial evidence presented to this
Commission during the above-referenced meeting and upon the specific findings
of facts set forth in paragraphs 1 and 2 above, this Commission hereby finds
and concludes as follows :
a. That the proposed request is not consistent with the
objectives of the General Plan; and
b. That the proposed request is not in accord with the
objectives of the Industrial Specific Plan and the purposes of the district in
which the site is located ; and
c. That the proposed request is not consistent with the
following objectives of the Sign Ordinance:
(1) To provide a high quality visual environment; and
(2) To enhance the economic value of the community and
each area thereof through the regulation of items such as size, number,
location, design and illumination of signs .
d. That there are alternative sign designs that would allow
the applicant adequate business identification.
4. Based upon the findings and conclusions set forth in paragraphs
1 , 2, and 3 above, this Commission hereby denies the appeal .
5 . The Secretary to this Commission shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.

I , Brad Buller, Secretary of the Planning Commission of the City of Rancho
Cucamonga, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly introduced, passed, and adopted by the Planning Commission of the
City of Rancho Cucamonga, at a regular meeting of the Planning Commission held
on the 23rd day of May, 1990, by the following vote-to-wit:
