FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT MINUTES
Regular Meeting
A. CA!.I. TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District was held on Wednesday, August 4, 1993, in
the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, California.
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Dennis L. Stout.
Present were Boardmembers: William J. Alexander, Charles J. Buquet II, Rex Gutierrez, Diane Willjams, and
President Dennis L. Stout.
Also present were: Jack Lam, City Manager; James Markman, City Attorney; Jetty B. Fulwood, Deputy Cie/
Manager;, Linda D. Daniels, RDA Manager; Rick Gomez, Community Development Director. Brad Bullet, Cip/
Planner; Cindy Norris, Associate Planner; Joe O'Neil, City Engineer. Bob Dominguez, Administrative Services
Dh'ector; Susan Stark, Finance Officer. Jim Frost, City Treasurer. Suzanne Ota, Community Services Manager;,

MOTION: Moved by Alexander, seconded by Williams to approve the staff recommendations in the staff reports
contained in the Consent Calendar, with Stout abstaining from the June 16 and June 17, 1993 minutes. Motion
carried unanimously, 5-0.

CONSIDERATION OF A RESOLUTION MAKING EXPRESS FINDINGS AND DF. TERMINATIONS

RESOLUTION NO. FD 93-014
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE RANCHO
CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, RANCHO CUCAMONGA,
CALIFORNIA, MAKING EXPRESS FINDINGS AND DETERMINATIONS THAT
MODIFICATIONS TO THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1991 EDITION, AS ADOPTED
BY ORDINANCE NO. FD 22 ARE REASONABLY NECESSARY BECAUSE OF
LOCAL CLIMATIC, GEOLOGICAL, OR TOPOGRAPHICAL CONDITIONS
MOTION: Moved by Buquet, seconded by Williams to waive full reading and approve Ordinance No. FD 22 and
approve Resolution No. FD 93-014. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0.

F. BOARD BUSINESS
FI. DISCUSSION OF DOING A COST EFFICIENCY AND OPERATIONS STUDY FOR THE FIRF.
DISTRICT (Oral Report) (1302-00 FIRE DIST)
President Stout stated he had asked that this be placed on the agenda and asked for the Board's support in looking at
the total operations of the Fire District, and to direct staff to look into this with a report back to the entire Board.
Boardmember Alexander felt this should be looked at by the Public Safety Subcommittee.
President Stout gave Boardmember Alexander some notes that included items he felt should be looked at.

Boardmember Buquet asked if President Stout was looking at a study to be done by a professional company.
President Stout stated yes if the subcommittee felt this was needed.
MOTION: Moved by Stout, seconded by Gutierrez for the Public Safety Subcommittee to look into the total
operations of the Fire District and bring the matter back before the entire Board in September. Motion carried
unanimously, 5-0.
G. IDENTIFICATION OF ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING
G1. President Stout stated there had been another accident involving one of Rancho Cucamonga's true trucks and
felt possibly the City should look at the type of emergency warning equipment that is on the trucks in order to alert
drivers of their approach. He suggested the Public Safety Subcommittee look into this subjecL
Boardmember Gutierrez stated he had a concern for any emergency vehicle that is on an emergency tun.

MOTION: Moved by Buquet, seconded by Alexander to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0. The meeting
adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
