CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District was held on Wednesday, April 3, 1996, in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, California. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President William J. Alexander. Present were Boardmembers: Paul Biane, James Curatalo, Rex Gutierrez, Diane Williams, and President William J. Alexander. Also present were: Jerry B. Fulwood, Deputy City Manager; James Markman, City Attorney; Linda Daniels, RDA Manager; Rick Gomez, Community Development Director; Brad Buller; City Planner, Larry Henderson, Principal Planner; Shintu Bose, Deputy City Engineer; Mike Olivier, Sr. Civil Engineer; Bill Makshanoff, Building Official; Robert Dominguez, Administrative Services Director; Suzanne Ota, Community Services Manager; Deborah Clark, Library Manager; Duane Baker, Assistant to the City Manager; Diane O'Neal, Management Analyst II; Chief Dennis Michael, Fire Marshal Ralph Crane, Management Analyst II Michelle Bancroft, and Fire Inspector Susan De Antonio, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District; Lt. Joe Henry, Rancho Cucamonga Police Department; and Jan Sutton, Secretary. B. ANNOUNCEMENTS/PRESENTATIONS B1. Presentation of a Proclamation recognizing Michael Young, a three year old Rancho Cucamonga resident, whose observation and quick thinking saved his family's home from severe fire damage. Mayor Alexander presented the proclamation to Michael Young. Mike Redmond, from the responding company, stated that Michael's quick actions helped to save his family's home from severe damage. B2. Chief Michael, Fire District, announced that because of the support of the Board, they were a recipient of a "Learn Not To Burn" grant, which will allow the Fire Prevention Officer to go into elementary schools and train children on fire safety. C. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC C1. Anthony Pavich, Ontario, expressed his concerns for the speed which fire engines travel through the intersection of 4th and Sultana. Fire Protection District Minutes April 3, 1996 Page 2 President Alexander stated that even though they had no jurisdiction over that area, they would mention his comments to the Ontario Fire Department D. CONSENT CALENDAR D1. Approval to authorize the purchase of seven (7) each, Lifepak 11, Diagnostic cardiac monitors and seven (7) each, Lifepak 11 de~brillators and auxiliary supplies from Physic Control in the amount of $103,615.75 $111,324.23 from Account Numbers 01-7044-65, 02-7044-40, 03-7044-30, and 01-6822-65 for the City of Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District Paramedic program. D2. Approval to accept the Fuel Tanks and Driveway for Fire Station No. 172 Project, Contract No. FD95- 005, as complete, release the bonds and authorize the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion and approve the final contract amount of $55,432.64. RESOLUTION NO. FD 96-003 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR FUEL TANKS AND DRIVEWAY FOR FIRE STATION NO. 172 PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE WORK MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Williams to approve the recommendations contained in the staff reports of the Consent Calendar as corrected. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0. E. IDENTIFICATION OF ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING No items were identified for the next meeting. F. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Gutierrez to recess to the conclusion of the City Council meeting for an Executive Session to discuss Labor Negotiations per Government Code Section 54957.6 to give Robert Dominguez, Administrative Services Director, direction in regards to the Meet and Confer process. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0. The meeting recessed at 7:12 p.m. No action was taken in Executive Session. Respectfully submitted, Secretary Approved: April 17, 1996
