A. CALLTO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District was held on Wednesday, January 15,
1997 in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga,
California. The meeting was called to order at 7:14 p.m. by President William J. Alexander.
Present were Boardmembers: Paul Biane, James Curatalo, Rex Gutierrez, Diane Williams, and President
William J. Alexander.
Also present were: Jack Lam, City Manager; James Markman, City Attorney; Jerry Fulwood, Deputy City
Manager; Rick Gomez, Community Development Director; Brad Buller, City Planner; Joe O'Neil, City Engineer;
$hintu Bose, Deputy City Engineer; Jerry Dyer, Associate Engineer; Bill Makshanoff, Building Official; Larry
Temple, Administrative Services Director; Susan Stark, Finance Officer; Suzanne Ota, Community Services
Manager; Debbie Clark, Library Manager; Duane Baker, Assistant to the City Manager; Diane O'Neal,
Management Analyst II; Chief Dennis Michael, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District; Capt. Ron
Bieberdorf, Rancho Cucamonga Police Department; and Debra J. Adams, Secretary.
B. ANNOUNCEMENTS/PRESENTATIONS
No announcements or presentations were made.
C. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
No communications were made from the public.
D. CONSENT CALENDAR
D1. Approval of Minutes: November 20, 1996
D2. Approval to declare one reserve fire engine and three staff vehicles as surplus property.
D3. Approval to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Community Center Development Fee Agreement
between the Redevelopment Agency (CO RA96-010), the City of Rancho Cucamonga (CO 96-052) and
Foothills Vineyards Center, which adds the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District (CO FD97-004).

MOTION: Moved by Gutierrez, seconded by Biane to approve the staff recommendations in the staff reports
contained in the Consent Calendar. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
E. IDENTIFICATION OF ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING
No items were identified for the next meeting.
F. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Moved by Biane, seconded by Gutierrez to recess until the conclusion of the City Council meeting
for an Executive Session (per addendum) to discuss Labor Negotiations per Government Code Section 54957.6
to give Andrew Arczynski, Assistant City Attorney, direction in regards to the Meet and Confer process relating
to the Fire Union, Fire Support and Fire Management Groups. Motion carried unanimously, 5-0. The meeting
recessed at 7:17 p.m. No action was taken in Executive Session.
