PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
Adjourned Meeting
October 31, 2003
Chairman Macias called the Adjourned Meeting of the City of Rancho Cucamonga Planning
Commission to order at 8:00 a.m. The meeting was held in the Planning Division Conference Room
at Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center, 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, California.
ROLL CALL
COMMISSIONERS: PRESENT: Richard Fletcher, Rich Macias, Cristine McPhail, Larry McNiel,
Pam Stewart
ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Brad Buller, City Planner; Dan Coleman, Principal Planner, Nancy Fong,
Senior Planner, Larry Henderson, Principal Planner; Debra
Meier, Associate Planner
COMMISSION BUSINESS
A. GENERAL PLAN UPDATE/DEMOGRAPHIC UPDATE
Larry Henderson, Principal Planner, gave a Power Point presentation on the changes to the City
Demographics from incorporation until now. The presentation illustrated how the City moved from a
small, modest income, semi-rural setting type community to a highly educated,affluent,and maturing
population.
B. LONG RANGE PLANNING ACTIVITIES
Mr. Henderson, and Debra Meier, Associate Planner, gave a Power Point presentation. The
presentation identified four applications that are being processed in the Etiwanda North area and will
result in approximately 800 acres being annexed into the City by spring 2004. They also highlighted
other possible development activity in the western portion of our Sphere north of the Alta Loma area.
C. FIELD TRIP OF CITY
Brad Buller, City Planner, and Dan Coleman, Principal Planner, drove the Commissioners on a tour
of the City focusing on nominees for the Design Awards of Excellence program for the year 2002.
The Commissioners selected their top 2002 awards but agreed to review the 2003 nominees in
January 2004 and honor winners of both years at the same time.
D. DEVELOPMENT REVIEW PROCESSING DISCUSSION
The Commission discussed the caseload activity of projects currently in the process and reaffirmed
the direction that Design Review Committee has been taking with projects.
E. WRAP UP DISCUSSION
The Commission agreed it is important to take field trips more often and that it is good to review
projects not only within the City, but elsewhere in Southern California.

There were no public comments at this time.

The Planning Commission adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
