Thinking about a
pet but not ready
for a life long time
commitment?
Retired with lots of
down time and nothing to do?Young and looking
for some non-boring responsibility? We have a solution for you!
Every year we take in many animals that are orphaned,or come
in with their mothers but are too young to stay in a shelter. We
need loving, caring fosters to help these animals thrive and grow
so they have a chance for adoption too.Join our successful,
friendly foster care program today and you can have purrs and
woofs of happiness in your home.Ongoing support and advice,
food, supplies, medications and veterinarian care is all provided.
If you have room in your home and love in your heart, please
consider becoming a foster care family. Please call us and ask
to speak with a ‘Foster Coordinator.’
LIVING WITH WILDLIFE
Hundreds of different species of animals coexist in the hillsides
and open fields of our communities. As we bulldoze and cement
these areas to make room for more homes and bigger roads,
animals of all types –skunks, raccoons, opossums, feral cats,
mice,foxes,gophers,lizards,and dozens more –are displaced
and involuntarily forced to li ve among us.
Live and Let Live -In the vast majority of cases, such animals
are harmless and likely just passing through.
No Food Means No Critters -
Be sure your garbage can lids are
on tight.Raccoons are strong and
remarkably dexterous,so secure
your can with a bungee cord if
necessary.Recyclables should be
clean and rinsed thoroughl y of food
deposits and smells.
Guarding the Garden -Gardens offer an irresistible treat to
deer,rabbits,and other herbivores.Erecting a fence around a
garden is the best and most popular method of keeping animals
away from your garden.
Learning to Coexist -As we humans take over the empty
fields, these animals have no choice but to try to live among us.
A simple and yet important way we can do this to treat them
with compassion whenever and wherever we encounter them.
After all,it’s their world too.
A Note of Caution -Before you begin sealing up cracks and
crevices,be sure no animals will be trapped inside your home.
You should avoid sealing holes during the spring and summer
when animals are raising their offspring.
Spay Day U.S.A.on February 28,
2012,will promote the many benefits
of spaying and neutering pets for the
Animal Center,the pet and the
owner.More animals are being born
than there are responsible homes,
which contributes to the national
tragedy of pet euthanasia.
There are very real benefits for you if your pet is spayed or
neutered.Your pets will -
-live longer,happier,healthier lives,
-be better behaved and a more affectionate companion,
not have a heat cycle, eliminating the attraction of
unwanted males,
-be less likely to fight, bite,or run away,
-be less likely,if a neutered cat,to spray and mark territory.
Help Rancho Cucamonga save hundreds of dollars spent to
control unwanted animals.
Keep in mind that spaying and neutering eliminates many
housebreaking problems;reduces dominance behaviors which
can be a source of aggression towards children;and reduces or
eliminates cancers and other health problems.
In addition to helping homeless pets, spaying and neutering is
Good for Your Pet •Good for You •Good for the Community
Help us help you, your pets and our community by spaying or
neutering your pet(s)today!
