12 SUMMER 2019 GRAPEVINE ANIMAL CENTERThe ASPCA is celebrating June as
Adopt-a-Cat month to educate the
public about the wonderful cats
and kittens available for adoption
at animal shelters. The ASPCA
wants to "encourage everyone
to make pet adoption their first
option and to educate people
about improving their quality of life
through the companionship
of a cat."
Our Animal Center has a variety of adorable, fun and cuddly felines
just waiting to find their new forever homes. Visit RCPets.info
for more information and stop by to see which new four-legged
friend will melt your heart.
WARM WEATHER
DARE TO PREPARE
Bark IN THE
BALLPARK
Is it too hot to take my dog out today? We
need to ask ourselves this question every
time we drive with our pet. Warm weather
can literally be a killer for a dog left inside a
vehicle. When it is 85 degrees outside, the
temperature inside a car - even with the
windows cracked, can soar to 102 degrees in
10 minutes and 120 degrees in just half an
hour! Outside temperatures in the 70s can be
dangerous too. Leaving your dog for "just a
minute" may be too long.
The RC Animal Care and Adoption Center
strongly encourages pet owners to make
an emergency kit for their animals to be placed
alongside their family's disaster "go kit."
Here's a list of recommended items to include:
• Food, water and medication for at least 5 days
• Health history and veterinary medical records
• Carrier, favorite toy, blanket or bed
• Paper towels, dish soap and garage bags
• Litter/litter box and scoop
• ID attached to your pet
• Current photos of all pets with a list of physical descriptions
• Written information about your pets' feeding schedules,
name and number of your veterinarian
• Digital records
Visit ready.gov/pets for more information.
HOLIDAY CLOSURE: The RC Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed July 4 .
