I am a daily user of the RC trails, and frequently ride my horse in the area near the Tentative Tract Map SUBTT18305 (west side of Hermosa at Vista Grove). I have three main concerns about the trails as proposed: 1 . At the Southwest corner of the property. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have an opening at that corner, so that the trail could connect to the existing feeder trail that runs alongside the adjacent housing development? That way there could be access to an existing trail that leads in a southerly direction. 2. The "vehicle gates with side access" that are proposed for the Northeast and Northwest sides. It is very difficult, and sometimes dangerous, to pass through many of the City's "side access" points with a horse. Please be sure that there is at least 6 feet width (two ground posts) so that riders do not get their legs smashed against the side poles. 3. The extension of Vista Grove Street to the West. Please be sure that the trail that runs on the northside of Vista Grove Street is preserved. This is a way to ride from Hermosa to get to the popular "Woods Trail" that is over to the west side. 20' METAL PLATE TO STOP THE GATE FROM SWINGING hIE1AL PLATE E INTO THE PUBLIC R.O.W. This should be corrected. Both the City Trails Implementation Plan and City Municipal Code require this 15' wide trail to be free on any structures and encumbrances. • The use of double walls on each side of the trails creates an unneeded alley feel to the Development and is in contradiction to the intent of the existing Rural Overlay. The elimination of the wall on the west side of the Tract adjacent to the existing local feeder trail will help eliminate this situation. In many areas within the Overlay Zone there are many double trails which do not have a wall separating them. If desired a concrete mowstrip would suffice to delineate the Lot Line. • An exhibit showing nearby Community and Local Feeder Trails would help understand how the proposed Tract Trails will connect to the existing trail system. • The use of the proposed private cul-de-sac street may be prohibited under the standards of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe: Dear Mike; It is good to hear that the property owner of Item D-1 at last night's Trails Advisory Committee meeting was willing to consider a change to the pass through space for the Vehicle Gate With Side Access for the NE and NW sides. Having a clear space between posts is so important. I have measured existing clear space between pass through posts on a trail near our house. The clear space is 18"-20" ---and this seems like a minimum safe space. Please let me know if the City will put that on the plans as the clear space in the center, for a "ride through", so horses don't try to jump over and so that riders don't have their legs crushed against a tall post or wall. Thank you, Judith Brennan 1 Thornhill, Elizabeth From: Judith Brennan <jwbrennan@vipmail.com> Sent: Friday, August 7, 2020 4:11 PM To: Thornhill, Elizabeth; Smith, Michael Cc: Larry Henderson;Joe Cowan Subject: Trails Advisory Committee Meeting members CAUTION:This email is from outside our Corporate network.'Do not clickiinksor open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.
