April 6,2021

A. CALL TO ORDER
The City of Rancho Cucamonga Public Art Committee held a regular meeting on Tuesday,April 6,2021 by
teleconference due to the Governor's Executive Orders,the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health
requirements,and to ensure the health and safety of Rancho Cucamonga residents by limiting contact that could
spread the COVID-19 virus.Vice Chair Jaymie Leslie called the meeting to order at 5:42 p.m.
Present: Committee Members Bryan Dopp,Jaymie Leslie,and John Machado.
Absent: Committee Members Leslie Matamoros and Paula Pachon.
Also present were Erika Lewis-Huntley,Management Analyst III; and Monica Mahoney,Consultant with Gemini
Proj ects.
B. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS
No public communications were made.
C. COMMITTEE BUSINESS
C1. Consideration to approve the minutes of January 5,2021.
Minutes are not available due to technical difficulties.They will be considered at the next Public Art Committee
Meeting.

C2.Update on the status of the Public Art Fund.
Erika Lewis-Huntley,Management Analyst III,provided an update on the status of the Public Art Fund balance
and reported$584,793.69 has been received to date.

C3.Update on the Public Art donation and discussion of site selection.
Erika Lewis-Huntley,Management Analyst III,provided an update on the public art donation.The City took
possession of the art piece and later was informed by the artist after a site visit that it was damaged by the
developer. Staff will be following up with Public Works to get additional information.Kathleen King(artist)
and Jerry Page(project manager)shared their dissatisfaction with the developer and the condition the art piece
was left in. They suggested the City take legal action and seek restitution for the damage. Staff will work with
Jerry and Kathleen to review the damage and develop a cost estimate for repair and restoration of the art piece.

C4.Discussion of the Public Art Strategic Plan.
Monica Mahoney,Founding Director of Gemini Projects and consultant for the Public Art Strategic Plan,
reviewed outcomes thus far in the strategic planning process.Monica shared that Phase 2 community outreach
is currently in process. The public art survey is live and will remain open for a minimum of 4 weeks.Monica
shared the initial survey data.Discussion ensued regarding additional methods to target specific audiences. Staff
is working with the City's Community Affairs Network to develop an outreach strategy to ensure diverse
community input.

Vice Chair Jaymie Leslie adjourned the meeting at 7:10 p.m. The next Public Art Committee Meeting will be July 6,
2021 at 5:30 p.m.
