MAY BERRY
Construction activity of the new Alta Loma Juni 6r High site at the
Opi cci Winery site was temporarf,ly stopped until the School, District tan
obtain the necessary grading pe,,tits from the City. We arse now working
closely with the School district in order to resolve this matter as saor^7 ..
as possible. It is expected that site work ,cart resume this week
The School District informed us that the project architect and engineer
dropped the ball and should have processed the necessary plans through
the City prior ,to constructiorx beginning, In t Idly 19r8S 'the Planning
Commission received a report on the Alta Loma School District's intent
to acquire the Opi eci Winery property as a site for a second Junior High
School,. The Planning Commission reques;4ed an opportunity to review and
cowmen) on the design of the schools off -site improvements,
architectural design,, and compatibility with surrounding' development:
. -,-This Planning Commission request was conveyed to the School District by
le'tt P dated June 30, 1986.
li )agust of 1,988, he City, met with the School District's archipct and
engineer to review and discuss the public Amprovement requttmentsf
Highland Avenue' realignment and construction between Wrmosa and
+ Mayberry were the primary issues discussed.- The conclusionwas that the
City uId pursue options of working with the. School District to
facilitate completion of Improvement, on Highland Avenue and
construction of Hermosa: Avenud by the C#y.
On May 19th= staff reviewed, with the school's architect, the site
gradinq and drainage plan for the Junior High. fpme adjustments arew
in the process of being made to the grading pper our meetint
proposed site plan stows two primary acces lsoints for the scha0 \
parking .:ots off Mayb'erryx with a secondary access point on Highland;
The rimJority of the school buildings will be located on the ast portions C
of the site facing Mayber°ry and Highland, with the play f 'l ds 'located
on the west portion of the, "situ jcing Hermosa and Highland. A
