A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF I~CHO
CUCAMONGA, C~J, IFORNIA, ACEN(rWLEI~ING NATIONkL ENGINEERS'
WEEK FEBRU~Ndy 17-23, 1985 BY THE NATIONA,L SOCIETY OF
PROFESSIONal ENGINEERS
WHEREAS, the National Society of Professional Engineers celebrates
National Engineers' Week annually during the week of George Washington's
traditional birthday, in honor of our first President who was a noted military
engineer and land surveyor; and
WHEREAS, engineering technology is a vital element in providing
health, safety, and economical growth for the citizens of the Inland Empire,
the State of California, and the Nation; and
WHEREAS, the engineering profession is composed of members in all
technical branches employed in private practice, industry, education,
government, and construction; and
WHEREAS, the various local, State, and National Engineering Societies
have joined efforts to provide an educational Engineers' Week for the public;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has long recognized the value of the
engineering profession in service to the public and supports Engineers' Week;
and
WHEREAS, the local Riverside-San Bernardino Chapter 20 of the
California Society of Professional Engineers has been actively involved in
planning for the various local activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Rancho Cucamonga, California, that the week of February 17-23, 1985, be
recognized as National Engineers' Week.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 6th day of February, 1985.
