A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RA/qCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING STATE SENATE BILL 2137
(GREENE) WHICH PROPOSED A REDUCTION IN RESIDENTIAL
SUBDIVISION PARK AND RECREATION DEDICATION REQUIREMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has placed a high priority on
meeting the expressed State goal of providing a 'suitable living environment'
for families who now, or in the future, will live in this City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has identified park and
recreation facilities as one of the highest contributing factors toward
providing that 'suitable living environment'; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has, in compliance with Section
66477 of the Government Code, adopted regulations through the City's Municipal
Code that pertains to dedication of park and recreation facilities as a
condition of residential subdivision at a ration of three acres of park and
recreation facilities per 1,000 residents; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2137, introduced by Senator Leroy F. Greene, on
February 17, 1984, and currently under consideration by the California State
Legislature, would seriously impair efforts to provide the 'suitable living
environment' of future residents of Rancho Cucamonga by reducing current park
dedication requirements by fifty percent;
BE IT NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Rancho Cucamonga as follows:
Senate Bill 2137, if adopted, would be detrimental to
local efforts toward insuring availability of adequate
park and recreation facilities, a key element of
providing a 'suitable living environment' to residents
of future subdivisions, through the reduction of park
dedication standards; therefore
2. The City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, strongly
opposes passage and adoption of Senate Bill 2137.
