A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS SUPPORT
FOR SENATE BILL 215 TO INCREASE ~IFNDS FOR THE MAIN-
TENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE STATE TRANSPORTATION
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga, currently has need of
Seven and one-half million dollars ($7,500,000) in street and highway
improvements, and;
WHEREAS, annual maintenance needs are deficient nearly one-
half million ($500,000), dollars annually, and;
WHEREAS, over the past years tax revenues for street purposes
have been significantly eroded by inflation and reduced fuel usage, and;
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the State wide need to address
the problems of streets and highway financing.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby declares its support for State Senate
Bill 215 (The Foran Bill) to provide for increased highway funding, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to encourage the State legislature to
increase gas taxes above the proposed two cents per gallon in order to
provide sufficient revenues to properly maintain State and local roadways
and to complete by elements of the State Transportation System.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 20th day of May, 1981.
