A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING ALLOCA-
TION OF FUNDS FOR THE PROTECTION OF FOOTHILL FREE-
WAY CORRIDOR RIGHTS-OF-WAY.
WHEREAS, development of the Route 30 corridor is a critical
transportation need through San Bernardino County, and
WHEREAS, the California Transportation Commission commissioned
a major consultant study in 1979 and 1980, and
WHEREAS, meeting on January 30, 1981, the California Transporta-
tion Commission accepted said study, which confirmed the need for a Route 30
facility and the necessity of protecting the corridor from development, and
WHEREAS, the California Transportation Commission has declared
its intent to sponsor and support an intensive program to develop a financing
plan for the Route 30 facility, and
WHEREAS, the California Transportation Commission has declared its
intent to protect the Route 30 corridor through December, 1982, by providing
adequate right-of-way funds in appropriate State Transportation Improvement Pro-
grams (STIPs), and
WHEREAS, the 1981 STIP Guidelines preclude action by the San
Bernardino County Transportation Commission or SCAG to include Right-of-Way (ROW)
funds in the Regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) in a funded category,
and
WHEREAS, the San Bernardino County Transportation Commission is
desirous of assuring that such protection is contained in the 1981 and 1982
STIPs, and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga is receiving intense develop-
ment pressure within the corridor, and
WHEREAS, protection of the corridor and construction of the
facility is a vital element in the City's General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga
does resolve as follows:
1. That this Resolution is an integral part of its 1981 TIP
submittal.
2. That SCAG similarly make it a part of th~ 1981 Regional TIP
submittal.
That the California Transportation Commission is requested to
implement its resolve as expressed most recently in Resolution
G69, to program adquate ROW funds in the 1981 STIPs to pro-
tect the Route 30 corridor in District 8 through December, 1982.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 1st day of April, 1981.
