RESOLUTION NO. 81-33
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, URGING CONSIDERA-
TION OF REGION RATHER THAN COUNTY BOUNDARIES IN
ESTABLISHING ELECTIVE DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, the cities in the Pomona/Ontario Valley have had strong
economic and social ties from their formation and incorporation; and
WHEREAS, these ties have not been restricted by the County boundary
which separates Los Angeles County cities from San Bernardino County cities
within the Pomona/Ontario Valley; and
WHEREAS, it is most beneficial for cities with strong ties to have
common State and Federal elective office districts notwithstanding county
boundaries; and
WHEREAS, it is even more important that individual cities are not
divided into multiple State and elective office districts to the disadvantage
of the local city electorate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rancho Cucamonga
urges the State Legislature not to divide a city into multiple State or
Federal elective districts when there is a reasonable and logical method of
maintaining political unity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State Legislature give stronger
consideration to the economic and social ties of a region in establishing
said Federal and State elective districts than to county boundaries.
