HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-108 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 01-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE CALIFORNIA BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACT, BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT, PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC INLAND EMPIRE TRAIL PROJECT. WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) program provides funding to City and County projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and WHEREAS, the Caltrans Bicycle Facilities Unit (BFU) in the Local Assistance Program administers the BTA; and WHEREAS, the responsible agency for regional transportation planning, the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG), has prepared a Non-Motorized Transportation Plan 2001 Update for San Bernardino County, which serves as the Bicycle Transportation Plan (BTP) for the Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail project, and recommends said project as a highest priority project in the primary bikeway system for the region. WHEREAS, the responsible agency, SANBAG, in conjunction with the City of Rancho Cucamonga acting as the lead agency, funded and completed the preparation of a Master Plan for the Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail. WHEREAS, The City of Rancho Cucamonga intends to submit a project application to be considered for BTA funding in response to Caltrans' 'Call For Projects." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA that it does hereby approve the filing of an application for Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) program funding and confirms (1) authorization of the project submitted by Rancho Cucamonga for BTA funding; and (2) certification of the availability of the required 10 percent local share of the total project cost; and (3) its commitment to ongoing maintenance if a project is selected.
