A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(CALTRANS) AND THE CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION
COMMISSION (CTC) INITIATE ACTIONS TO RELINQUISH
FOOTHILL BOULEVARD (STATE ROUTE 66) TO THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA
WHEREAS, the portion of Foothill Boulevard (State Route 66) within the City of
Rancho Cucamonga has been designated as a State Highway for many years; and
WHEREAS, the function and use of this highway has been determined to be
more efficiently used as a route for local residents; and
WHEREAS, Sections 71, 73 and 8330.5 of the State Streets and Highway Code
provide for relinquishment of State Highway routes when found to be in the best interest of the
State; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Cucamonga has agreed to undertake
maintenance and liability for the portion of Foothill Boulevard (State Route 66) proposed to be
relinquished.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, THAT:
1. The State Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the
California Transportation Commission (CTC) are hereby
requested to initiate and undertake all necessary studies, reviews,
negotiations and other actions as required to relinquish Foothill
Boulevard (State Route 66) within the limits of the City of Rancho
Cucamonga as shown on the attached Exhibit "A", subject to such
repairs, improvements, indemnity and maintenance agreements or
other considerations as approved by the City Council.
2. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this resolution.
