A R~SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIPORliIA, DECLARIN~ ITS SUPPORT FOR AB 711
PERTAINING TO THE DISPLAY OF MATERIAL WHICH IS HARMFUL TO
MINORS
~{EREAS, AB 71X, authored by A~semblyman Condit, amends Section 313.1
of the California Penal Code estahlishin8 that Cities and Counties may adopt
ordinances prohibiting the display of material which is harmful to minors in
any place where minors are present: and
WHEREAS, the protection of our youth is a number one public safe~y
priority in our community= and
~HEREAS, existing law prohibits as a misdemeanor defense various
activities relatin$ to the distribution or exhibition of harmful matter to
minors: and
WHEREAS, it may be necessary in the future for Cities and Counties to
adopt Ordinances which compliment existing law, prohibiting the display of
material which is harmful to minors: and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucumon$a deems it
appropriate to support AB 711 as is currently written to better protect minors
within our community and state.
NO~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rancho Cucamon$a City Council
does hereby declare its support for AB 711 which if passed by the State
Assembly and Senate and approved by the Governor would all~ Cities and
Counties to tabulate a display of material which is harmful to minors.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this let day of April, 1987.
