R~L~TAL~FCRCITYMEASURES
WHEREAS, Section 5014.5 of the Elections Code of the State of
California authorizes the City Council, by majority vote, to adopt provisions
to provide for the filing of ~ arguments for City measures suh~i~ at
mm~icipal electi~s.
N~, ~EFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does
hereby resolve, declare, determine and cx~er as follc~s:
SECTION 1: ~hat pursuant to Section 5014.5 of the Elections Code of
the State of Califcx~ia, if any pex~on su~aits an argument against a City
m~asure, and an argument has been filed in favor of the City measure, the City
Clerk shall ~mm~iately send copies of that argument to the persons filing the
argument in favor of the City measure. ~he persons filing the argument in
favor of the City measure may prepare and suk~it a rebuttal argument not
~ 300 w~xds. ~he City Clerk shall send copies of the argument in
favor of the measure to the ~ filin~ the argument against the City
measure, who may prepare and submit a rebuttal argument to the argument in
favor of the City measure not exceeding 250 w~rds. ~he rebuttal arguments
sb~]l be filed with the City Clerk not m~re than 10 days after the final date
manner as the direct arguments. Each ~ argument shall immediately
follc~ the direct argument which it ~ to rebut.
S~CTION 2: ~hat all previous resolutions providing for the filing of
~1 arguments for City measures are repealed.
S~CrION 3: Ihat the provisi~s of Section 1 shall apply c~ly to the
election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 1992, and shall t_hen be repealed.
