~HEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of
Califarnia ~ovides that the g~ernin~ body of any local agency adopt
regulatic~s p~xT~h%it~ to materials urepared by any candidate for a municipal
election, incl~ costs of the c~mdldates statement.
NOW, ~{~REFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does
hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as follows:
SECTION 1: General Provisions. ~hat pursuant to Section 10012 of
the Elections Oode of the State of Califarnia, each candidate for elective
office to be voted for at the General MUnicipal Election to be held in the
City of Rancho O__~m~nn~a on November 3, 1992, may prepare a camlidate's
statement on an ~iate form provic~d___ by the City Clerk. Suc/1 statement
my include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and a brief descrip-
tion of no more than 200 w~rds of the candidate's education and qualifications
include party affiliation of the candidate, nor mmmbership or activity in
partisan political organizations. Such statsment shall be filed in tb~ office
of the City Clerk at the time the candidate's nc~ination papers are filed.
Such statement may be withdrawn, but not changed, during the period for filing
nomination papers and until 5:00 p.m. of the next working day after tb~ close
of the n~nination period.
SECTION 2: Spanish Lanquaqe. A candidate may elect to have said
candidate statsment translated into Spanish at an additicmal cost to be
determined by the Registrar of Voters.
SECTION 3: Additional Materials. No candidate will be permi~ to
include additional materials in the sample ballot package.
SECTION 4: Payment. ~he Registrar of Votars shall estimate the
total cost of printing, handling, transhting, and mailin~ the candidate's
filing a statement to pay in advance his or her p~o rata share as a condition
of having his or her statement included in the voter's pamphlet. The
Registrar of Votars shall bill mach candidate for any cost in excess of the
deposit and shall refund within 30 days of the election any unused portion of
the dep~it.
SECTION 5: That the City Clerk shall Ixx~ide each candidate or the
candidate's representative a copy of this Resolution at the time nc~inat~
petitions are issued.

SEUITf~q 6: ~hat all previous resolutions establishir~ o~uncil policy
on payment f~r candidates state,_nfs are repealed.
S~CU/~ 7: ~hat this Resolution shall apply only to the election to
be held on Nov~ 3, 1992, and shall then be re~ed.
