HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-201 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 03-201 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT AND OTHER PERTINENT DOCUMENTS FOR THE CONGESTION MITIGATION AND AIR QUALITY (CMAQ) GRANT PROJECT FOR SIGNAL TIMING AND SYNCHRONIZATION ALONG BASE LINE ROAD/16TH STREET FROM BENSON AVENUE IN THE CITY OF UPLAND TO ETIWANDA AVENUE IN THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA THAT INCLUDES THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL INTERCONNECT SYSTEM ALONG BASE LINE ROAD FROM ALTA CUESTA TO ETIWANDA AVENUE (FEDERAL AID PROJECT CML- 5420(009) WHEREAS, the United States Congress enacted the Transportation Equity Act for the 21s` Century (TEA-21) in 1997, which re-authorized funding for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement projects; and WHEREAS, the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG), being the Regional Transportation Planning Agency having discretion over the allocation of funds initiated a call for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvements.projects; and WHEREAS, SANBAG has established the procedures and criteria for reviewing grant application proposals for use in determining eligibility and priority; and WHEREAS, said procedures and criteria established by SANBAG, in conjunction with Caltrans, require a resolution certifying the approval authorizing the City Engineer to execute the grant agreement and other pertinent documents by the applicant's governing body; and WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with SANBAG to complete the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA: 7. Approves the authohzation of the City Engineer to execute the agreement and other pertinent documents for grant assistance from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement program for the development of new signal timing to coordinate 26 traffic signals on Base Line Road from Benson Avenue in the City of Upland to Etiwanda Avenue in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. 2. Supports the Base Line Road Signal Timing and Coordination Project. 3. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this resolution.
