HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-051 - Resolutions RESOLUTION NO. 87-51 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCRO CUCAHONGA, CALIFORNIA, CREATING A PUBLIC SAFETY COHHITTEE TO ACT IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY TO THE CITY COUNCIL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, does hereby as follows: SECTION 1. Create a Public Safety Committee. Role of Public Safety SECTION 2. The Rancho Cucamonsa Public Safety Committee shall act in an advisory capacity to the City Council on community safety matters, such as: a. Study the Eovernmental relationship between the City of Rancho Cucamonsa and the Foothill Fire Protection District. b. Study the law enforcement needs within the community. c. Study the City of Rancho Cucamonga's disaster preparedness plan. d. Study of such other public safety issues as deemed appropriate by the City Council. Public Safety Comittee Membership SECTION 3. The Public Safety Committee shall consist of a total of five (5) members. The Mayor shall submit to the City Council the name of any person proposed for appointment to the Publlc Safety Committee and upon such appointment by the City Council the name of the appointed member shall be recorded in the minutes of the City Council meeting. SECTION 4. The five members of the Public Safety Committee shall serve until such time as the purpose of the Public Safety Committee has been fulfilled. If a vacancy shall occur, it shall be filled in the above mentioned manner. Removal of M~mbers SECTION ~. Hembers of the Public Safety ~ittee serve at the pleasure of the City Council, and may be removed at any regularly scheduled City Council meeting upon three (3) working days' prior written notice to the member. Removers shall be by a majority vote of the entire City Council. Retular Heetin~s SECTION 6. Regular meetinSS of the Public Safety Committee shal! be established by Resolution of the Public Safety Committee, open to the public and adhered to all applicable open meeting laws. Officers SECTION 7. The Public Safety Committee shall ha~e a chairperson appointed by the Mayor to ~reside at all meetings of the Public Safety Committee, and a vice-chairperson selected by the Connittee to preside in the absence of the chairperson. If necessary, a secretary to the Public Committee shall be designated by the City ~anager. NO~, THEREFORE, be it resolved, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby creates a Public Safety Committee to study and review public safety matters within the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
