HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-142 - ResolutionsRESOLUTIC~ NO. 94-142 A RESOLUTICIq OF THE CITY OOUNCIL OF ~HE CITY OF RAN(~O (/~29~NC4% L~GING THE CITY O0~qCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS AN~ TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACtICeS TO EXPEDITE EXPANSIC~ OF THE PIANN]~ PASS~qG~R TE~4INAL FA_~,~IES OF ~%EAS, the Ontario International ~ is operated by the City of Los Ar~3eles through its ~ of Air~; and ~{~EAS, the Ontario Intanmti~m~l A~ is a significant ecorm~c develo~nt resource of reqic~al and state wide significance; ar~ WHEREAS, the Ontario International ~ has experienced tr~m~r~lous levels of growth in both cargo and passenger activity; and WHEREAS, the current passenger facilities at the Ontario International Airport are overcrowded and being used well beyond their design capacity; and WHEREAS, the region surrc~a~ing the airport has suffered tremendous losses in military and related aerospace employment far disportio~ate to the general econcm~; and WHEREAS, the economic recovery in the region is dependent upon the expansion of this important transporation facility; and WHEREAS, the entire state is experiencing an economic recession and corresp~dir~ lack of private investment and development; and recovery and improve the overall image that California is grc~ing and w~chy of private inv~-~ment; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby urge that the May~r and City Council of the City of Los Angeles take all neoe~ry s~ to expedite the expansion of passenger facilities at the Ontario International Airport.
