A RESOIJ3TION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE 1993 CALIFORNIA
STATE GAMES
WHEREAS, the California State Games is California's largest amateur
athletic competition featuring athletes fromthroughout the State competing in
an Olyn10ic-style competition; and
WHEREAS, nearly 4,000 athletes, predominately ages 12 through 20, are
expected to compete in the 1993 Games hosted by the City of Ontario and to be
held from August 13 - 15, 1993, throughout the Inland Empire and within the
City of Rancho Cucamonga at Chaffey College and Rancho Cucamonga High School;
WHtSIEAS, approximately 16 sports will be featured in the three-day
event, with competition conducted by each sport's State governing body and
coordinated by a local organizing col~LJttee comprised of local business and
co~tm~unity leaders; and
WHEREAS, California is one of 42 states which conducts similar types
of statewide co~-~etitions endorsed by both the United States Olympic Committee
and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and
WHEREAS, the California State Games is a nonprofit organization
established to organize and manage the games and is designed to encourage the
State's youthto become actively involved in sports.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Rancho Cucamonga, California, that the City Council supports the 1993
California State Games as an outstanding amateur sports competition, and
encourages the citizens of Rancho Cucamonga to participate and volunteer in
all of the athletic sport venues to be held in the Inland Empire from
August 13 - August 15, 1993.
