HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-027 - ResolutionsRESOI/II~ONNO. 93-027 A RESOLUTION OF ~HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAN~O CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING HISTORIC ~ DESIGNATION 93-01, THEREBY DESIGNATING ~ f~DRY ~TJT,~N HOUSE, LOCAT~ AT 9441 IOC~ITA DRIVE, RANCHO ~, THEREOF - APN: 202-082-13. WHEREAS, Jan and Dale Suttonhave filed an application for Landmark Designation 93-01, as described in the title of this R~solution. Hereinafter in this Resolution, the subject Landmark Designation is referred to as the "application." WHEREAS, On January 12, 1993, the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a duly noticed public hearing on the application and, following the conclusion of said public hearing, adopted Resolution No. 93-01, thereby rec~mm~nding to this City Council that said application be approved. WHEREAS, on Feb~m~y 17, 1993, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga conducted a meeting on the application and concluded said meeting on thatdate. WHERFAS, all legal prerequisites prior to the adoption of this ~solutionhave occurred. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does hereby find, determine, and resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The application applies to property located at Assessor Parcel Number 202-082-13. SECTION 2: As part of the historic residential core of the Alta Lc~a co.m~nity, and with its proximity to the small business district, the Emory Allen House stands as a firm reminder of life in' the area during the depression years. Of straightforward styling and construction, the home Emory Allen built for his family represents the dedication of men and women who forged a c~t,,~nity in this once rural area. The proposed landmark meets the following criteria established in Chapter 2.24.090 of the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code: A. Historical and Cultural Significance: The proposed Landmark is particularly representative of an historical period, type, style, region, or way of life. The proposed landmark was connected with someone renowned, important, or a local personality. Resolution No. 93-027 Page2 B. Neighborhood and Geographic Setting: The proposed Landmark, in its location, represents an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood, co~,,,,unity and City (Ord. 70 S9, 1979). Designation of a Landmark is exempt from C~QA (Article S~CTION 4: Based on the substantial evidence received and reviewed by this Council and based on the findings set forth above, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga approves the designation of the ~nory Allen House as an Historic Landmark.
