A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER, ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIRECTOR
AND THE FINANCE OFFICER TO EXECUTE THE
APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION TO BE FILED WITH THE
OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
OBTAINING FEDERAL ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE
DESTRUCTION CAUSED BY THE GRAND PRIX FIRE
WHEREAS, the Grand Prix Fire, which first erupted in the northern portion of the
City of Fontana on October 21, 2003, and within several days spread into the City of Rancho
Cucamonga; and
WHEREAS, due to the conditions of extreme peril, it was warranted and
necessitated to declare the existence of a local emergency in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga hereby
authorizes Jack Lam, City Manager; Lawrence I. Temple, Administrative Services Director; or
Tamara Layne, Finance Officer, to execute for and in behalf of the City of Rancho Cucamonga,
a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, an application and to file it in
the Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial
assistance under P.L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and
Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, and/or state financial assistance under the California
Disaster Assistance Act due to the destruction caused by the Grand Prix Fire.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Rancho Cucamonga, a public
entity established under the laws of the State of California, hereby authorizes its agents to
provide to the State Office of Emergency Services for all matters pertaining to such state
disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required.
