A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA'S FRANCHISED WASTE
HAULERS TO CHARGE FOR EXTRA AUTOMATED TRASH,
RECYCLING AND GREENWASTE CONTAINERS BEGINNING
MARCH 1, 2004
A. RECITALS.
(i) On April 1 , 2001 the City Council approved an addendum to the refuse
contract (CO 85-082) establishing an automated refuse, recycling and
greenwaste collection within the City of Rancho Cucamonga. At that time
no rate structure for extra containers was established.
(ii) When the Council approved the automated program in April 2001 it was
indicated existing residents could request additional containers until July
2002 when the haulers could request a resolution permitting a charge for
extra containers. All new requests for containers after that date have been
accepted at no charge. Therefore grandfathering all requests for extra
containers prior to June 30, 2002.
(iii) The haulers also have agreed many residents have a multitude of
containers which are not being used for refuse collection. The haulers will
make contact with all residents who have multiple refuse and/or recycling
containers and request they turn containers in excess of the two allowed.
However additional containers will continue to be grandfathered until
March 1, 2004.
(iv) As per the Agreement Recital "C", the Franchised Haulers are requesting a
rate structure for automated barrels. It is the intent of the City Council in
adopting an Addendum to establish by Resolution a rate structure for
refuse, recycle and greenwaste containers.
B. RESOLUTION.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Cucamonga does
hereby find and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1: Addendum to the refuse contract, adding a charge for each
container, over two, for refuse, recycle and greenwaste
containers beginning March 1, 2003.
96-gallon refuse containers $6.00 per month per extra
container.

65-gallon recycling containers $1.25 per month per extra
container.
96-gallon greenwaste containers $1.25 per month per extra
container. (Waste Management of the Inland Empire)
The cost on the Refuse, Recycle and Greenwaste containers is
for the cost of replacement and/or repair to the containers.
SECTION 2: This provides an adjustment to the contract CO 085-082
establishing a rate for automated containers.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution
